Hi, sorry for posting this so late, I had my interview on Tuesday January 10th. My interview was very similar prettypass2000's one. It was scheduled for 10:45am, I got there 30 minutes before and they called my name just before 11:00 am. The interview took around 25 minutes and was super smooth. First the officer told me to relax and then I had to stand up and swear to tell the truth. He then asked for my drivers license and my green card, we went through the application confirming the name spelling, address, employment, etc. Then we got to the trips and he was kind of exited that I went to Ireland, since he is a descendant of Irish immigrants, we talked about Dublin, Belfast, U2, Guinness, whiskey, the Cliffs of Moher, etc. After that he asked a few of other yes/no questions from the application and then we proceeded to the examination. I had to read "Who lives in the White House?" and then write "The President lives in the White House". After that the civics questions: where is the Statue of Liberty located, who was the 1st President, name of the governor of Texas, movement that fought for equal rights, name two national holidays, and what is one promise you make with the pledge of allegiance. We stopped at 6 since I got them right. Then I had to sign my passport photos, sign the part of the pledge of allegiance on the application, and sign the form stating that I was approved.

Now I have to wait for the ceremony to get scheduled, since El Paso does not offer same day ceremonies. He told me the next one is on January 18 but it is too close I probably won't be schedule for that. I will have to wait until mid February.

Dallas office seems to be pretty behind with N-400 applications. It will be a while before they get to the September filers. See the attachment.

For whatever reason, my husband's application through the Dallas office went pretty quickly. We mailed in the application on Sep 2, his interview was Dec 15, and his oath ceremony will be next week at the Dallas field office. I hope all the other Dallas folks hear back soon!

Congratulations. Thanks for posting your experience.

Congratulation! :) What was your answer for the question of Statue of Liberty? I answered New York but he asked me to be more specific. So I answered again and he said "good". I was so nervous and felt like there's butterfly in my stomach! Hope you will get your oath schedule soon! :)

Quick question for those who have had their oath ceremonies - did they take your previous passports from your home country? Or just your green card? The Oath Ceremony notice says to bring "all reentry permits or refugee travel documents you may have, valid or expired", and I'm wondering if this is referring to passports? Thanks for any info!

For me, they didn't ask for my passport at the oath ceremony! They asked for my green card at the check-in.

Mostly, its the green card. I don't think they take your passport. Depending on your home country (whether you have dual citizenship), you may have to renounce your citizenship.

I am from India, and I need to go through that extra step.
