There is an app for civics test for Android and Apple. I downloaded on my phone. The coolest thing is that you can hear someone read the questions to you and you answer back (you can click answer to see if you answer right). It helped me much because I got used to hearing the questions and I also got used to answering them! GOOD LUCK.

 

P.S. my kids quizzed me on reading and writing vocabularies every other days.

You are very welcome! Make sure you get 2017 version. Mine was 2016 version. It helped me so much. I practiced once a day just so I got used to hearing and answering the questions. I studied, using the red book, every 3 days. 

 

My kids were thrilled to be on this journey with me. Actually my daughter was leading us on the Pledge of Allegiance at the oath ceremony! It's very emotional. It feel so good to hear my kids keep telling me how proud they are of me!

I am an American!

 

I had my interview scheduled today at around 9am. Was called into my interview about 1.5 hours after that.

Had a serious, but polite officer who took my ID, passport, and GC. He then proceeded to confirm all my answers in my application - which took maybe 15 minutes.

Moving on to the questions, I was asked to read, "What month is Columbus Day in?", then write out, "Columbus Day is in October."

 

I remember 5/6 questions:

What did the Declaration of Independence do?
Name one branch or part of the government?
We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years?
If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?
How many justices are on the Supreme Court?

I got all 6 correct and then was recommended for approval. Was asked if i could attend the oath ceremony today. In total the interview lasted no longer than 25 minutes.

 

The wife and i went and got some lunch and returned to USCIS at 2:00 for the 2:30 ceremony. There was around 75 people from 36 different countries attending.

I did tear up a little when the 'America the beautiful' video was played for us. I was truly proud to, at last, hold my hand over my heart and recite the pledge of allegiance.

 

Now to apply for my passport. More paperwork! Argh!

From my experience, I brought what they asked for in the letter as well as copies other legal documents since I filed green card & the update ones. I was glad I did because at first,  the officer couldn't find the copy of my name change paper. I wasn't surprised because they actually lost the copy of my birth certificate at the green card interviews. Thankfully, this time the interviewer was able to locate the copy eventually.

There was a separate letter which came with the interview notice. Did you get it?

If not, I can send you a photo of that letter.

As of 2pm central time I am a citizen of the United States of America. The interview barely took 20 mins and was very smooth. First had to swear while standing to tell the truth. Spent 5 mins confirming info on my form, provide IRS documents and check spelling, ssn, DOB and address. Answer 6 questions: 1st President, name of governor, movement that fought for equal rights, ... don't remember the other lol. Then read "who lives in the White House?" And write "The President lives in the White House". Then I had to sign my passport photos and sign the form stating I was approved. Officer asked if I was available at 2 pm to come back for an oath and I almost jumped up and down saying "yes!". Went to work and talked to some friends, had celebratory lunch then went back for oath. We each got a number seat, had to sit and listen to some instructions, listened to and watched the national anthem lyrics and then one by one our names and countries were read off and then we all went up to receive our certificates. Then we watched a video from the President and after the Pledge were dismissed for some photos. Done! I shed a tear I was so happy and relieved!!! It was a touching moment!

Did you send your photos? I sent mine in. On my oath ceremony day, they have technical issue, which they can't print my picture on the certificate.  So they glue the photo submitted with my application & signed at the back at interview) onto my certificate,  notarized, and asked me to sign again on my photo.
