As an Australian going through this process, I would make sure you are both 100% committed to this relationship before starting the process. I have been with my partner for 2 years and we have known each other almost 5 years. It is daunting and even though it does take some time, there are time limitations.

1. Be ready to marry at any moment. Do not expect this to take 8 months and not be ready to marry. Know within yourselves that this is absolutely what you want and in moving to another country. As RandiandYuni already stated...for me too this is happening amazingly quickly considering what I was originally looking at (THANK GOD). But keep in mind, from the moment you are granted the visa, it expires in 6 months and from there, once you enter the USA, you have 90 days.

2. It is not an easy or cheap process. There are a lot of costs involved including the VISA, Medicals, Passport photos and mailing of packages etc. Make sure you and your partner are ready for these costs.

3. Have everything ready as others have said. There is a lot of details etc and you will be need to be prepared!!

Good Luck with the process :)

Can some please tell me if the i134 affidavit support form must be hand signed by my fiancè & given to the embassy in its original form or can he type the information onto the form, print it out and sign his signature and scan it to me? Basically is a print out of a scanned i134 form (including his signature scanned) acceptable at the embassy?

Also what about the date on the affidavit form does he date it or can I date it say for example on the day of my interview at the embassy?

Thank you for your advice. ? I was wondering, after the visa is granted, you say it expires in 6 months? So does that mean I have to book my flight within that time?

Can someone give me a rough, if not estimated total of all the costs involved with the K1 Visa? just so i can have an idea. How much so far has it cost you? :) much appreciated.

Just the k1 portion in fees

340 filing fee

265 embassy fee

300 medical exam

150 miscellaneous cost, postage, requirements gathering etc

So 1055 used

Then there is aos and things I have not gotten to

Not only just book the flight but enter the US also before it expires.

For example, my visa says: Issue date 20JUL2016 and then: Expiration date 23DEC2016. That is the time span I have to leave my country and enter the US valid and legal. You will have to set foot in the United States within 6 months of receiving your visa.

From filing K1 to being in US with Green caed in hand you are looking at about $2,200 usd. And that is not including cost of flight.

My medical exam in Brisbane was $485 AUD. I think it's around the same in Sydney. Also, front-loading isn't necessary. You don't need to submit any proof of ongoing relationship at the interview.

My boyfriend is filling out the K1 visa, we are stuck on 2 things....

He doesnt have a "Alien registration number" what even is that? ?

And with the G-325A form do we both send a copy of this form filled separately?

Also..."Current husband or wife" (if none, so state)? We're not married yet so what should we put in that section? ....Thanks guys!

- Leave it blank for the Alien registration box

- You need to fill out two separate G-325A forms. One for you and signed by you. One for your fiance and signed by him.

- Write NONE for current husband or wife.

Good luck

My experience is that you need a wet signature on the i134, not a scan. You can date it before the interview. That said, my i134 was not even glanced at by the CO at all. Now at AOS time it is way more important.

Your choice who files the G325A, if you both want to be contacted electronically, cool you both do it, if not then dont. That form isnt critical.

You wont see an Alien number until you see an approved NOA2...

It is not a choice. The G-325A is required from BOTH the USC petitioner and the foreign fiance(e) beneficiary. That form has nothing to do with being contacted electronically.
