Montreal Interview April 5th at 8:30 (quick question)

After just about a year from first submitting the forms, my wife and I finally have our interview date in Montreal The only problem is I've been reading about different documents that some of you were required to send, but the packet that I received, as well as the one she got and the one that was sent to our lawyer, doesn't mention bringing anything new. We're going to bring the DS-230, Parts I and II, even though we've obviously already submitted them earlier. We filed an I-130 and a I-121 (she lived in the States with her family for a long time, case was denied, they moved before they were deported). We've already gotten together and organized all our docs (packet III, I-212 packet, photo album, etc), but we're just confused what new documents we should bring as well. I've read a lot about electronic forms and such, but we've never been asked to supply anything like that. Any help would be appreciated, as we had to book plane tickets and a hotel room, so we don't want to do this more than once. Thanks!!

I know you guys can't tell me exactly which documents will be needed, I was just hoping that you could let me know if your packets that were sent by the NVC mentioned every new document they wanted. My poor wife is going insane and I'm trying to calm her down as we reach our last week and a half of living apart! Thank you!

Wish I could help but I'm still not even sure what NVC stands for... we just recently started the I-129F process and are waiting for our NOA2. Hope it goes well though so you can your wife can be together soon! A WHOLE YEAR?

I can't help you because I took the K-3 route and that's the only process I know about.

Perhaps if you shared more information... Like, what exactly you're filing for?

The best (general) advice I can give is bring all originals (when available) and one copy of absolutely everything. Then you're covered no matter what.

I agree with Emily - we have to know what you filed for before we can help, as each type of visa requires different documents.

However, if you are required to submit the DS 156 or DS 156k, then those MUST be filled out via the online forms. A new barcode is generated with each form filled.

One small correction on this: it is ONLY the DS-156 that needs be filled out online and printed with the barcode. The DS-156K is still filled out on a regular old paper form.

That is... unless Montreal has changed things AGAIN within the last couple weeks. Who knows these days?! If you're really unsure, the best thing to do would be to contact Montreal themselves.

Gotta love it, I called the Consulate yesterday and got two different answers from two different people, but no big surprise there. All I'm going to do is bring a DS-230 completely filled out but not signed, then everything else I've turned in, plus any originals I still have. I figure it's going to be crazy overkill, but I think that's better than the alternative. Thanks!

I brought a ton of paperwork to my K3 interview in Vancouver but all they wanted was what was on the checklist. I felt better bringing it all though.
