Interview availability for Ho Chi Minh Consulate/Packet 3

Two questions:

1. How long does it usually take for the consulate to send packet 3 to the beneficiary? Is packet 3 needed to do the medical exam as stated? Or all you need is the interview appointment confirmation? I've heard conflicting stories

2. We scheduled our interview today but the available dates are so far out. Earliest is November 14th....none in October at all? do the availability change daily or whatever date is shown on USTravels is set in stone?

Any feedback will be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

We did the online service request. They responded in 2 -3 days with the instruction (PK3). And we never received the PK3 in the mail. You will need to submit D-160 and pay the visa fee, then schedule the medical afterward. End of August, the dates in October were reopen, but we couldn't change the dates. Dont know why. So hopefully, when the dates in November filled, they will reopen the dates in October or November again.

We never got packet 3 in the mail. Technically, you need it for the medical exam, although some have gotten by with just the interview confirmation. I wouldn't risk it and would just request that they email it to you via: https://vn.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/immigrant-visa-inquiry-form/

We had ours emailed to us no problem.

Thanks for the feedback!

I sent an inquiry on 09/05, got a response back on 09/07 stating that they could not confirm my email address therefore cannot release any information and asked me to submit another one, this time with the last 4 digits of my SSN.

I sent that inquiry on 09/07, so far no reply yet...the waiting game continues

I used the email address listed on the 129f form and also my scan passport in the inquiry to confirm identity. Not sure if that was the case when they released the letter via email to me.

I had same issue.

I sent an inquiry on 09/13, got a response back on 09/14 stating that they could not confirm my email address therefore cannot release any information and asked me to submit another one, this time with the last 4 digits of my SSN.

I just re-sent the inquiry again a few minutes ago with the 4 digits SSN.

May I ask bnguyenx1, have you received any new response from them yet.

Thx

As of today, no response yet....

I've received the response today but it says the same thing again. Looks like it was an automatic reply thing. Just useless.

I've got my Instruction Letter from Consulate via email yesterday (September 15). In order to get it via inquiry, I had to use the email address in my I-129F form together with my last 4 digits of SSN for security. They don't accept my fiancee email in her DS-160. Instruction Letter is needed (together with the interview appointment confirmation) for the physical examination and for the visa interview.

Nowaday they don't use the terms Pkg3, Pkg4 anymore, instead they combine both of them into one instruction called K-INSTRUCTION. Step 1 in the K-INSTRUCTION is actually the Pkg3 you'll have to send via postal mail to the consulate. Step 3 in the K-INSTRUCTION is actually the Pkg4 you will carry with you to the interview.

Good luck folks.

Thank you all again for the input.

They never replied to my 2nd inquiry i submitted on 09/07 so I submitted another one on 09/17 and this time they replied a day later. I just received the instruction package via email today and will tell my fiance to set up the medical exam.

Good luck to all on your journey!

You cannot setup the medical exam until you paid the visa fees and scheduled an interview. Your fiancee will need a copy of the interview appointment confirmation for the medical exam and vaccination.
