Satan is a scapegoat. Many christians will not take the blame for anything, or take credit. If something good happens, God is responsible (and that's fine) and if something bad happens, Satan is responsible. Not mankind. Sure we have free will, but Satan is still blamed.

Yes that is true of some Christians, but not all. Most Christians I know believe that we make the choices ourselves to either do what's bad or do what's right. But I know you are right that some Christians put all the blame on the devil and none on themselves for doing bad things.

Dear Consolemaster .

If you are God, then please issue my fiance his visa now. Kthanks. Amen.

I'm sorry. I don't have that power. I'm like that other god too! :innocent:

Consolemaster,

Maybe you can just RENT that title ...but make sure you get a reciept . :innocent:

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Satan does exist. Not a very fun or funny topic IMO.

Prove it ;)

I see Satan work through people every day. I see God work through people everyday, too. I am sure you do, too

Nope, I see people making their OWN decisions everyday. I don't see God or Satan.

i can still keep these, can't i?

There are many of those here in the south. I'd like to think that the south is not representative of most christians.

But thanks for validating my thought

I can't imagine going through life believing that there is a good guy and a bad guy controlling your every move/thought. Xianity must appeal to a certain sort of person....a person who likes to follow rather than lead. Not saying that's bad, but I couldn't deal with feeling that my life wasn't my own.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Well I can't imagine going through life NOT believing it, so we're even. :P My life is my own, to decide how to live it. But I am concerned about the decisions I make for my own life, and for that I try to do what the bible says to do because I believe it's the best way. Everyone is a follower of sorts even if they don't admit it, and being a Christian doesn't mean you can't be a leader.

Christina, you pretty much always manage to explain things exactly how I want to and never seem to express it right. :)

I don't think its supposed to be like that, though it does seem to be a trend among certain groups. Someone mentioned on the other thread all those (frankly creepy) evangelist shows on TV. There are a lot of them - based on that my guess would be its more common than not.

Back in the UK the general attitude to religion is more relaxed, though admittedly church attendances have been falling there for many years, and there is a lot of grey hair in church congregations you don't see those people falling on hands and knees, crying out and speaking in tongues. It seems to be peculiar to the US - and that particular aspect of the christian religion is perhaps best described as a 'cult'.

Yup, the UK has a very different approach to religion. Much more sedate and relaxed. Rarely does anyone ever preach or obviously try to convert you. There are no billboards or signs proclaiming anything about Jesus or God, unless on actual church property. It is, in my opinion, better. People tend to be more tolerant towards others who do follow a religious path simply because they don't advertise it to the extremes.
