Hello Everyone,

I have a quick question.  What do we have to do (Me and my Fiance) to allow her to travel back and forth to the Dominican Republic once the visa is approved to check on her grandfather?  He is very sick.

You can apply for adjustment of status, EAD and AP as soon as you are married.  Status adjustment takes 3 months to up to 3 years and will allow for work and travel.  EAD and AP take 90 days on average and will allow for work and travel while awaiting permanent status

There is something called emergency advance parole. You should check out if your fiancée qualifies.

Congratulations to Papasmf and Galaxia2016 on the approval! Must feel good :)

Thank you so much!  Congrats to everyone and good luck & God bless to those still processing.    Thank you for everyone's help here too!  Wonderful website and people here.

Also, seconding the information RandB provided about emergency advanced parole.  Normally AP takes 90 days after marriage, but there are exceptions for emergencies exactly like your's as I understand.  I found this on another post:

File for Emergency AP Documents at your local office.

http://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-processes-and-procedures/travel-documents/emergency-travel

Emergency Advance Parole Documents

If you are experiencing an extremely urgent situation, you may visit your local office to request an emergency advance parole document. When visiting a local office to request emergency advance parole, you should bring the following items:

  • A completed and signed Form I-131, Application for Travel Document
  • The correct I-131 filing fee
  • Evidence to support the emergency request (e.g. medical documentation, death certificate)
  • Two passport-style photos.

How to File

To apply for an emergency travel document, you must file Form I-131, Application for a Travel Document, complete with supporting documentation, photos and applicable fees. See the application for specific filing instructions.

Where to File

Where to file the Form I-131 depends on the benefit sought. See the form instruction pagefor details. Your local office may accept an emergency advance parole application if you are experiencing an extremely urgent situation. Business trips, weddings, holiday parties, and other planned events would usually not be considered an emergency situation. If you are filing Form I-131 for an emergency travel document at your local office based on an extremely urgent situation, you are encouraged to make an Infopass appointmentfirst. "Make an Appointment (Infopass)."

When to File

You must apply for the travel document before leaving the United States. Generally, an applicant for a travel document must also complete biometrics capture at an Application Support Center (ASC) prior to departure from the United States. Failure to do so may cause the applicant to lose permission to reenter the country and lead to the denial of any other applications pending.

I haven't posted in a while because I was overseas in Manila during Christmas to attend our interview with my fiancé, and then went to visit her family in her province for New Years.

Wonderful news!  Our interview was approved.  A few questions in and somehow we got onto the topic of food and recipes with the interviewer.  My fiancé and I started completing each other's sentences about a recipe and the interview just stopped the interview and said "I can tell you are in love, your visa is approved, Merry Christmas.  She also mentioned that it was really nice that I attended the interview with her as her petitioner.

That interview was on Dec 27, and a couple days ago my fiance picked up her passport and visa from the 2GO location near her province, Jan 5th there, 4th here in US.  She had it in hand while I was still flying back home to US.

All that is left is her required attendance at and stamp from the CFO seminar/guidance counseling program in Manila, then she can get on a plane!  Both of us have a few things to take care of before we can do that, so probably February or March if we can be patient enough to wait 4-8 more weeks.

Thank you to everyone here for their help and support, congrats to those approved, and thoughts and prayers for those working towards their approvals.  God bless!

Congrats!! When is she going to have her CFO Guidance and Counseling Program?

I'm moving to New York next week and need to find a new place for us there before she comes out.  So picking a date for her flight here is yet to be decided, but it'll be very soon, next month or by end of March around the latest.  Since she has to fly to Manila to do CFO and to fly back here, we will just wait and do CFO a few days or so before her flight so we can do it all in one trip.  At least, that's the current plan unless we find out there's a better way to do it
