Our NOA2 was approved Nov 17. I called the NVC today for the very first time. Called at 10:15pm EST. On hold for 30 minutes and call was dropped/disconnected. Several deep breaths. Called again and got thru after 40 minutes of being on hold. Nice lady took my USCIS receipt number and said my case "was received today and it takes about 2 weeks to enter all the information into their system. Call back on 12/26 - actually we may be closed on that day so call back on 12/27". Hope this info helps others

Update: Called 2 days later on 12/15 at 9:15pm. 45 minutes on hold. Got our case number and invoice ID number after giving our USCIS receipt number, receipt date, names, and date of birth. They say the package will be shipped to Guangzhou China within the next 2 weeks and we will be dealing with them directly from then on. Marching onward! Again, I hope this update helps others in the process.

My case status is "ready". Does the Embassy schedule the interview date and tell us when to show up, or can we choose the date?

Depends on the embassy. The instructions they send you will tell you.

For the affidavit of support form : what should be included for pesonal property section? Everything you own like a car ? And the amounts? And for the deposits in savings account, what if I don't have a savings account?

Hi Larrie,

To be sure, please ask this question in the specific embassy/consulate section for your country's embassy. If you salary fulfills the requirements, I believe all you need is the employment verification letter, tax transcript(s), tax return(s) 1040, W2, and 3 months of paystubs. If your salary does not fulfill the requirement, then you will need to show other income or assets like personal property. What's been suggested to me is to only show what is needed to meet the requirement. I believe you can do the most recent tax year you've filed (2015 in this case) for the transcripts, 1040, W2. Transcripts can be downloaded online from the IRS gov website. Some suggest showing the last 3 years of tax returns to show that you've consistently been above the requirement with your income.

I hope this helps. Still, I would suggest asking the question (or searching for the same question) in the embassy specific section for the embassy for your fiance's country here.

How did your medical go KandS? Congrats btw! Our medical will be on Monday, and our interview about a week later, just after Christmas!

From what I understand, it takes 2-3 months to get the document to travel abroad after applying. Maybe longer.
