Just got off with NVC and they still have not received our approved petition. Seems that they are short staffed at NVC and they have a backlog. The lady told me that she does not expect our approved petition to hit the six week mark after approval without being received by NVC. We will see about this. Seems that the personnel at NVC is switching back and forth working I129F approved cases and other cases. This would explain why others with NOA2 like us have their case number and we don't.

i also called them mins ago with no luck , the lady was nice i asked if they just started seeing mid oct noa2s this week and she said yes , so im assuming next week will be more consistent , since this week it only seemed that today and Thursday we saw a good handful of k1s getting case numbers ,monday to wednesday seemed very dry this week

Congrats RANDB but i wanna ask how did you call them if you're in sweden?

I'm in Norway, actually. :) I bought credit on Skype and called them. The way it works is that you pay an amount beforehand and then for each minute a few cents gets deducted of your credit.

No, don't wait for a letter from NVC. If we waited for a letter, we'd still be waiting. You don't need it. The only thing you need from NVC is the MNL#. Once you have that you can:

1. Pay Visa/interview fee at BPI (save receipt)

2. schedule interview at USEM online (print out confirmation, you will need it at St Lukes)

3. complete DS-160 online

4. Pre-register for medical at St. Lukes (this will streamline process when you get there)

5. Attend medical (there is no appointment for this, it is first come, first served basis)

6. Attend interview (and hopefully get approved)

7. Attend CFO in either Manila or Cebu. (this can be done either before or after interview, we chose after. If you do it before, you'll have to go back to get passport stamped. You can not leave the country without attending CFO and getting stamp).

Keep in mind, every embassy is a little different. You'd be best off posting any specific questions you have in the regional Philippines section.

I have received our NVC letter last Oct 28. Lawyer wanted to wait for the eligibility letter from the US Embassy in Manila before proceeding to Medical and scheduling the interview, is it that necessary?

No, lawyer doesn't know what they are doing. Once you have MNL # from NVC and status as listed as "ready" on CEAC you can proceed.

Exactly! I would want to schedule my medical on the 15th already. They keep on insisting on the eligibility letter where in fact our case says it's READY already.

You can check your status here:

They keep insisting of the eligibility letter from the Manila Embassy where in fact the Ceac website tells us it's READY already.

Please read carefully post #9 in this thread :

Then follow the link and read up on the whole process. Trust me, this guy has forgotten more than your lawyer will ever know about the USEM K visa process.

Your lawyer is wrong and he or she is causing needless delay. In fact unless your case is complicated, you don't even need a lawyer.

So a few posts I came across mention that NVC is selecting random cases for "additional processing". If that happens, the case will not be forwarded to the embassy for 4-6 weeks or maybe more.

I received my case number from the NVC on the 3rd Nov. How many days should I wait before embassy should send my case to the embassy? I know I can keep checking the status on their website but what's the norm?

It can take a few days. Don't worry too much about it.

On this page (under "step 5") it says it takes about 8 days: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1historical

Just got off the phone with NVC. They still have not received our petition. The lady told me that our petition should be received within the six week mark. Friday November 25th will mark the six week mark since approval. Will call again tomorrow. NVC is so inconsistent. They are processing parts of 129f approved cases faster than others.
