So after being told my case was received on the 28th, I called this week asking for the case number. My case was actually received today. I verified they had the correct receipt number this time...Now NVC has confirmed my case has been scanned in to the system and can now take up to 2 weeks to get a case number. So back to waiting.

That sucks, sorry! At least they have your case. You should try calling tomorrow to see if they got the case number. Getting it usually takes 1-4 days like soulstriker said, and sometimes you can even get it the same day they received your petition.

I was hoping I would be approved soon, but received an rfe online today. I don't think this is a bad thing. I know my application is being viewed :dancing:

Definitely not a bad thing. Hopefully it's an easy fix!

Congrats! You can start filling out your DS-160, book the medical appointment and book your interview! Your embassy will send you instructions on what to do once they receive your petition.

Hello, can I get clarification on this? Because I've read where people say each Embassy is different, so shouldn't we wait until we get the instruction from them first?

Or does it mean that by having your case number, you can go ahead and do your medical checkup by yourself? How do we book interview with the Embassy if the Embassy themselves haven't received our petition?

Thanks for clarifying.

Hello! Thank you! Should we wait for the NVC letter before we book our interview? And our case is still at the NVC :)

I called the NVC yesterday at about 4pm Central, was on hold for about 15 minutes. They told me my case # had been assigned earlier that day!! Yeah! So I'm not sure when they actually recieved it (didn't think to ask). But they said I could expect it to be sent out the consulate by the end of next week.

Yes, each embassy is different. You guys should check out your embassies' website for country specific instructions. You can also ask in the regional discussion here on visajourney.

My embassy, for example, doesn't allow you to book the interview before they have sent out the instructions. My medical examination, on the other hand, can be done before the embassy receive my case. I actually booked my medical appointment in early October.

No, don't wait for a letter from NVC. If we waited for a letter, we'd still be waiting. You don't need it. The only thing you need from NVC is the MNL#. Once you have that you can:

1. Pay Visa/interview fee at BPI (save receipt)

2. schedule interview at USEM online (print out confirmation, you will need it at St Lukes)

3. complete DS-160 online

4. Pre-register for medical at St. Lukes (this will streamline process when you get there)

5. Attend medical (there is no appointment for this, it is first come, first served basis)

6. Attend interview (and hopefully get approved)

7. Attend CFO in either Manila or Cebu. (this can be done either before or after interview, we chose after. If you do it before, you'll have to go back to get passport stamped. You can not leave the country without attending CFO and getting stamp).

Keep in mind, every embassy is a little different. You'd be best off posting any specific questions you have in the regional Philippines section.

Same here, the operator gave me the invoice ID and said I would need it.

Just curious, was your operator's name Arya (or something like that)?

Didn't give her name. Sounded like an older lady that had been smoking for a long time
