Question about POE and visa expiration dates:

My fiance and I are hoping to have a POE date of June 1st (ish). The process is going pretty fast compared to what I was reading while putting the packet together. (We have a couple of international trips planned and our wedding date is June 24th)

From what I read, I thought the visa expired 6 months after it was issued (around the time of the interview). I was reading on another thread that the Visa expires 6 months after the medical appointment.

Does anyone here know the details on when/how the visa expires specifically (so we can strategize our timeline). We want to try to make June timeline work, if possible :) . Thanks in advance! :)

I am really confused.

I have been checking the USCIS regularly and for the past two weeks my case was not update. Then today (just a few minutes ago) it said it was approved on October 4, 2016 (just about two weeks ago). The USCIS website doesn't have it updated yet though. Did this happen to anyone else. I checked the case numbers 5 times to make sure I have them right.

Okay my case just got switched back to received only and not approved. That was really strange.........

Also the case number within my case number did not match...

Way to play with people's emotions.. You're approve...just kidding.... you can continue to wait now......

I don't know how you guys do it. It's nerve wrecking. I am looking at the app and I see one case right behind me got approved 11 days ago and 2 cases ahead of me, 1 approved, and 1 has a RFE and yet my case status hasn't changed. Plus I see Cesar and Duong above which has the same country of Vietnam as me and they got approved in less than a month. It's so crazy that I'm losing my mind. Sorry to be ranting and I know my case is at about 3 1/2 weeks so it's still too early to worry, but those cases in the app getting touched left and right just gets me so worried.

That confuses me, too! I've also read that the medical is valid for one year. So it's hard to know what to believe! I can't help you, but I hope somebody else can clear things up for us.

Don't worry too much about it. I know it's nerve wrecking, but you just have to distract yourself. About one month from Noa1 to Noa2 seems to be the average right now, although there are many that take a shorter or longer time to get approved. Check maybe a couple times a day, nothing more. I know it us frustrating seeing applications nearby get approved or get RFEs, but before you know it it's your turn. :)

If it makes you feel better when I check your case number on the USCIS site it says approved. Maybe your browser was going to a cached page.

I'm facing the same thing as well. Even though we are happy the approval came in fast, but the planning now has to be adjusted.

For work, I actually initially planned to stick around until March to help close a few matters, but from the way things are going, it would seem like the interview will be around Dec or Jan?

I hope somebody can share their knowledge or experience on the validity issue.

Thanks.

I feel you! I'm feeling the same way 2 days ago but i tell you this it will come the least you expect it.. do other things, do things you like just to divert the feeling, cause i know it's frustrating seeings others get approved and yours is not moving, but it will come maybe nextweek yours will be approved. Keep the faith! God bless!

While waiting for my nvc letter what i do now is read read and read, gather as much info as i can. Also planning to buy a planner tomorrow, i am not a planner-kind of person but I can't afford to forget docs need to be submitted on the day of interview. This journey is really nerve-racking but it is all worth it.

Is your case number WAC1690611859? It's weird that it is approved in the app but different case number.

Hopefully someone can give some insight :) My fiance has some work things to finish up as well, a family trip he does once a year he would like to do one more time before he moves here and I travel there in February for a month ( which I don't think will be an issue). But I was originally thinking we would have the Visa in hand by March but it could go a lot quicker. :)
