So I'm currently getting through the NVC step, and I know the interview at the consulate is coming up after a doctor's physical. I promised to take a trip to visit when that comes up and am planning some other things too. But my fiance asked me if she could come back with me after passing the interview.

From what I'd read, it's possible for her to do so, but seems to vary from embassy to embassy on whether that's approved in the next day, or the following week.

So should I be getting a one way plane ticket then for her when I purchase my own? Or plan for her to make her own trip alone to reunite with me and our life together?

Any feedback for the Dominican Republic would be great.

Thanks

Golden Rule of VJ: Never purchase a ticket without visa in hand.

So many variables can play into the interview/visa issuing process. Documentation, AP, etc etc. There is no way for anyone to predict what day she will obtain her passport with the visa in it. I would caution you on purchasing a plane ticket now unless it is completely refundable, changable, or you can lose that money without problem. I've heard so many stories here where people purchased a flight ticket and then did not receive the visa in time.

Ok, well hypothetically, could I purchase a ticket while in that country if the visa came soon enough? Ideally, I'd want the same flight for both of us. Otherwise it makes more sense to purchase after.

Have you checked the info page here for DR to see the waiting period for getting Visa back. Of course you can do what you want. Just buy a ticket that's flexible to change with minimal cost.

Visa issued same day? No ball.gif If not whats the waiting period? 1 - 3 weeks, depending on location. Delivered by courier service. Or you can schedule to pick it up from designated location

I hadn't found a page specific to any country. Most I found here was somewhere else where they cited "next day" or the "following week"

Not sure where I should be looking that I hadn't found it yet.

Top of every page is the tab Portals. Click on that it takes you directly to your countries portal Click on Consulate Information. Has alot of information for you.
