Your status does not expire, no need for a infopass stamping, unless you plan to travel.

And also in the very rare case someone like a cop wants to see proof of status. Not having it is a misdemeanor but it's been pointed out a few times that it's rarely enforced. Depends on your level of comfort really.

Oh i didn't know that. Thank you for the information. I got a job at the airport and i showed them my drivers license and ss card but they asked me for the actual green card. I showed them that with the letter and they only gave me temporary clearance until the 31st which is when the i-797 "expires". They scheduled me for the 31st to get the permanent badge. I don't know whats their reasoning behind this but it works for me.

I don't know if airports are exempt in terms of security clearance but usually when an employer demands to see a green card when you already showed them your driver's license and SSN, they're breaking the law. If it's not causing you any issues though then it's probably not worth looking into. Just more of an FYI.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Just as an FYI for all September 2016 CSC filers, I had an Infopass appointment today for an I-551 stamp as we have travel planned.  My NOA date for the I-751 is September 13th 2016.  The officer today told me that I should probably expect to hear something early next year but likely not before.  So that would appear to be the expected timeline if things continue to move at the same speed they currently are.  So I guess sit back, relax, enjoy the holidays the best you can and don't stress that you haven't heard anything.  Oh - and go get that I-551 stamp if you think you might need it.  Everyone at our local office who I spoke to agreed with me that it's better to do it a little in advance of any planned travel date - there were no questions at all about my travel being almost a month away at this point.

Hi guys NOA Sep 20, 2016. I called USCIS this morning and spoke to tier 2 officer who informed me that my case was approved from Oct 23, 2017. He says normally it should take 30 for me to receive the greencard but i should give it 60 days because they have some issues with creating the card in the specified time frame. I will wait i am happy, tomorrow is my birthday so that is great news to hear.

Hello Everyone!

how strict are they on the couple being married 2 years or longer to get the 10 year green card? The reason I ask is because we will be legally married for 2 Years in December 28th, having the interview a month (November 21st)shy of it, just curious if they would still give him only the two year conditional residency? Side note: we have been together for over 11 years, living together about 6 maybe even more, don’t know if that helps or changes anything?! I’m just wondering if anyone here was in the same situation but still only got the 2 year conditional residency?

Thank you so much for your time! 😃

I see this question being asked a lot. The only time your online status will change is after the card is “ordered for production and/or mailed”. As of now, the online status DOES NOT change from “Case Received” after it’s been approved. Hope this helps the inquiring minds.

Hi there, you are AOS applicant. By law, one should get 10 years GC if he/she is married for 2 years or more before approval of their GC. Since you are too close to the 2-year mark there is no harm in asking the interviewing officer to give you the 2 year GC. You should persist on a 10 year GC and tell that to the Interview Officer. For instance,  If you are approved on the spot on November-21, your GC will still take at least a week or 2 weeks to arrive with a date somewhere closer to December-1 if they take a quick action after approval. As long as you prepare well for the interview there should be no issue. Good luck.
