Just got my passport stamped today. The officer gave me 6 months extension and took my CR-1 card. I asked if it was advisable to file N-400 while waiting for the 10yr GC. She said they can't really advise us what to do and that there is no guarantee that the I-751 will get adjucated when you file for N-400 and that the case might even be transferred to another office and might cause other delays.

I sure hope that CSC will process things faster so that we can move on and breath a little better. Good luck to us guys! :)

Hi everyone,

we wanted to make an info pass appointment in san francisco so that we could get a stamp in my wifes passport in order for us to keep traveling as we often do because her 1 year extnsion letter will expire in November 2017. There are no appointments available according to the website and we called in for help and received none, just told us to check for appointments daily. Is there a specific person we can ask to speak to who can make us an appointment to get the stamp in her passport so that we can go on vacation? Thank you.

I'm not sure tbh. I'm on mountain time, and I can't remember for sure... But I think they became available at midnight for me. If you don't see them by 12:10am, I would check back after 2am 👍 But they will be there. I was panicked too, wondering how I would ever get an appt! But that's just the way they release them... Probably to stop no shows/cancellations 👍

I would definitely go for citizenship if you're eligible and  so inclined.  I would try a service request, if it allows you to do one, before contacting a senator, although you're still in processing times according to their processing times, so I doubt there is much you can do about it. I'm sure you will get news very, very shortly.

I would recommend USPS informed service to you, so you can see what is coming in your mail (if you don't already have it) and then you don't miss your approval or interview or rfe or whatever happens with your case.

So I just received some good news. My wife's case got approved on 10/6 and the letter arrived in the mail today. Its funny how I called USCIS last week (after 10/6) and even the Tier 2 officer provided no update on the case. Their systems must be really antiquated.

I also sent some documents to my congressman's office this morning to follow-up. But I guess I have to withdraw the request now that its approved.  Time to work on the N400 application....

Question:

How long does it typically take to get the greencard in mail? The letter says 60 days.....I have an appointment with infopass next week....but I am inclined to keep it and get a stamp as we are travelling overseas on 11/10

Key Dates:

NOA 1: Sep 23 2016

Fingerprints: Oct 24 2016

Approval Oct 6 2017

That's great news around 2 weeks or earlier.  I would get the stamp to cover myself if they allow you to do so, don't risk it being delayed or such. Keep your appointment and you can always cancel it. I am pretty cautious with GC's after getting mine stolen.

My extension letter has expired already. However, I got a passport stamp in March so I could travel. Now the thing is even *that*  stamp is expiring soon because immigration officer only gave me 9 months.

Question: If the the first stamp expires (Dec 2017), will I be prevented from later getting another stamp if I need to travel? (whilst still waiting on GC to arrive)
