Just called USCIS. The Tier 1 set me up for a call back number for Tier 2 officer. So I set it up and got called back immediately. Spoke to Tier 2. I was told that my case is still pending and all I-751 cases are required for an interview. I told her based on people’s reports most cases didn’t get an interview. She insisted it was for cases before and now they are notified that cases require an interview. When I asked if my case has been assigned to an officer, she said she doesn’t know as the system doesn’t show. She can’t set up a service request either at this point because of the process timeline. However, she then told me my case is still at the service center. If my case is sent to the field office, there will be an interview. If my case is at the service center, there may be or may be not an interview. Pretty useless information and just some official answers for me. I asked for her badge number to follow up, she doesn’t have one but she did give me her name. I guess I will follow up later when the process timeline is updated.

Sounds not nice. However, not even one June, July, August 2016 filer on VJ  reported anything about being called for the interview. They would go to the bottom if they conducted interviews for each case. Doesn't sound reliable information.

I am a September filer too.

Honestly, I don't think any of us (September filers) should be calling USCIS when we already know that they are just starting to process July applications.

Calling congests the lines and keeps officers busy when they could be actually processing applications.

We, CSC September filers, just have to patiently wait.

The reason for the delay is simply that CSC has been slammed with DACA applications since November 2016 and CSC workload is focused on DACA not I-751. The recent news (end of DACA with a deadline) has probably created another surge of DACA apps.

We just have to wait.

Don't call. It is pointless for us CSC September 2016 filers at this point.

Technically, what she said is true. All I-751s are subject to an interview. However, many (most) of the interviews are "waived".

As far as service center vs local field office: If it stays at the service center, there will be no interview. If they think there might need to be an interview, your file is sent to the field office. There still may not be an interview even if it goes to the field office - the officer there may decide they have enough evidence, and just approve you. Good luck!

You're right, we do need to wait patiently. However, no one should be worried about phoning the information line. The people on the phone are a glorified call center. They're not the same people who are processing our files. In fact, most of the time, they have even less information available than we do!

Answering the phones and responding to our questions is their entire job (and they don't even do it very well)!

Your theory about DACA is a good one - DACA seemed to be the reason why our I-130s and CR1s all took so long back in 2013, so it's reasonable to assume it's causing problems again! Although no one can be completely sure what's going on at USCIS.

Calling USCIS is arguably pointless, but only because we won't get any information that we don't already know, (and half of the info we get from their call center is wrong!) not because we're taking them away from processing files.  Again, the people on the phone are just call center employees, not USCIS officers.

Is your timeline updated?

Adding on to what nightingalejules said, the people answering the phones not only do not process our files but they are third party contractors who have most likely never set foot in a USCIS office in their lives. I work third party for some big companies and we also have to pretend to be them to their customers.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Just look at the numbers from USCIS website. Quarter to Quarter.

                                                             2016 1st Quarter    2017 1st Quarter

I-751 Applications received:           35,536                       36,263

I-751 applications approved:          32,246                        23,829

DACA Received:                               47,376                       114,327

DACA Approved:                              55,886                         122,221

The numbers above don't need major explanation. Huge jump on DACA workload. Huge decrease on I-751s approved per quarter.

While I agree that there is certainly a correlation, correlation does not necessarily equal causation. Personally I think you're probably right. But I remember all the backlash and infighting as frustrated I-130 applicants blamed DACA recipients in 2013. Even if these numbers are saying what you suggest, DACA recipients aren't to blame. USCIS failing to staff sufficiently and balance workload appropriately is.

Just look at the numbers from USCIS website. Quarter to Quarter.

                                                             2016 1st Quarter    2017 1st Quarter

I-751 Applications received:           35,536                       36,263

I-751 applications approved:          32,246                        23,829

DACA Received:                               47,376                       114,327

DACA Approved:                              55,886                         122,221

The numbers above don't need major explanation. Huge jump on DACA workload. Huge decrease on I-751s approved per quarter.

i may be thinking about this wrong, but how does USCIS approve more DACA than receive in a quarter?

Now it makes sense. But isn't it that DACA get processed not just by CSC but all other centers too and they're fine. Also can you please give me a link for statistics? It's interesting. I was trying to find these numbers but couldn't.

I don't think anybody is blaming the DACA applicants.

It is what it is.

They don't have enough personnel.

Several things I know for sure: There is no conspiracy against I-751 filers, CSC is not lagging just because they are lazy, the Poltergeist is not playing with our applications, etc.

There is not enough personnel available to process the applications (be it due to DACA surge or something else)  and, hence, the process is taking longer than usual.

The next interesting development for us will be if we all start getting new biometrics appointments as it will be more than 15 months since most of us got that done. And I have heard biometrics are only good for 15 months. We'll see...

Hi everyone,

I've been quickly following the forum quietly for a while now. I finally registered to share my impatience and frustration with you all.

I am a VSC filer, with the receipt date of 9/27/2017 and notice date 10/07/2017 filing from NJ.

I have not heard anything since my biometrics last year and like others, my online status is still "Case Received". As people started receiving approvals in August I hope that I would receive it as well. I recently moved and notified USCIS so I am not sure if that's delaying the process. Also, I believe I read someone else from NJ not having heard anything yet - so it might be a state level thing.

I've been traveling with the extension letter with no problem, actually I just came back from a business trip a week and a half ago. But my GC expires 10/22 and my next business trip is 11/04 so I made an infopass appointment. I hope they don't make any problems with giving me a stamp at the appointment but it sounds like majority of people had no problem with that thus far.
