Hi,

I called USCIS today and requested to speak with a L2 Immigration Officer to follow up on the decision of my pending I-751. The immigration officer was very friendly and polite. First, she apologized for a delay on my case as she said the office is working to clear the backlog of applications at California Service Center.

Wait, doesn't New York belong to Vermont Service Center? Why California? Confusing.

That's actually an interesting perspective, it may be the case. I guess none of us are really sure what their process is. They may just read enough, up-to satisfaction, or do try and find discrepancies. Who knows, figuring out the "golden middle" sounds like a tough exercise. May be case agent specific too...

i think there maybe a few things that might have delayed the decision.  Firstly if you filed late September then you are more likely to hear in a couple of weeks. Secondly, I read an article a couple of months ago and it said that sending to much information or to little information can end up in an interview. If its very large they look at it and send it to a field office as they feel they don't have the time to go through all the information.   If the file is light then they will also send it to a field office which I suspect happened to an October filer. I don't have definite proof just a hunch and because I read an article about how the USCIS process files for ROC. The applicant was from the UK.

I have also noticed another case whom like your wife, was originally an F1 case and later married. It was quite a recent post and I did suspect that they might have been called for interview due to initially being on a F1 visa. Again just a hunch, cannot remember which country they originated from.

Also,  https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-to-expand-in-person-interview-requirements-for-certain-permanent-residency-applicants They are starting to interview more people, admittedly for AOS,  however they do intend to expand this other visas.

Just got off the phone with a Tier 2 officer. I'm happy to share with you all that I was approved yesterday 09/11. There has been no text/email notification or change of status online. Also I just wanted to share this for others who might be reading this now or in the future. Many people seem to worry a lot or make a big deal out of sending a lot of documents. Like y'all know imma divorce waiver filer and I had absolutely NO document to show co-mingling of financial resources with my ex. The ONLY documents I sent with my ROC application was a cable bill and a life insurance policy (that I eventually cancelled) from 2 years ago that had my name and ex spouses name on it. No bank statement, no credit card, no lease/common dwelling, no greeting cards, no affidavits, no insurance, no pictures, in fact I sent absolutely NOTHING meaningful. I was hoping for an interview so I could get a chance to explain the circumstances and why there are no documentations of our defunct marriage. But I guess I don't have to go through that anymore. I'm so glad this part is over now!

lol I had actually called yesterday evening but the agent couldn't transfer me to a Tier 2 officer  and advised me to call back today. As soon as it was 8am I got on the phone and was immediate transfer to a Tier 2 agent who then gave me this information. Ironically after I got off the fone, 10mins later I got a call back from USCIS apparently a follow up from my call yesterday. I asked her about the status although I was aware it's been approved and she kept on blabbing how they were backlogged and still working on July cases and couldn't give specific details of when my case would be adjudicated. She even offered to renew my extension which I politely declined. So amazing how these folks work within the same organization and are sometimes clueless on their system and processes.

It would be end of quarter.

Thanks for that information, really interesting to see how they may be processing applicants. My wife was F1, but also had an H1B1 for a while before starting her PhD program (which she finished). Everyone is unique it seems,

http://mypathtocitizenship.com/removal-of-conditions-interview-questions-how-to-get-approved-for-the-10-year-green-card/ This is the article I read regarding front loading an application. I don't know how accurate it is but I do know that an officer spends around 6 hours going through each application, which equates to a heck of a lot of time and manpower.

Further to my call to USCIS yesterday to follow on my pending I-751, today when I checked the status on myUSCIS - Case Status the below wording appears. I wonder if anyone know what does this message imply? Thank you very much.

"On September 12, 2017, your request to have your Permanent Resident Card resent to you, referral number WKDxxxxxxxxxxVSC, was assigned to an officer for response"
