It's normal to not have heard anything yet after biometrics if you're a CSC filer. Have you checked your case status online and does it say that it's processing? Personally, I think you could wait a bit unless you need to travel in the autumn. Maybe plan on an infopass appointment at the beginning of November if you haven't heard anything by then. My husband got the stamp but that's because his expires in October and is going to need to travel for an unspecified amount of time in Oct due to a family emergency.

05/14: We were married!!

06/04/14: Finally marriage license was recorded & we got a copy

07/01/14: RFE for co-sponsor salary and tax info, which was already sent with original package. Resent a copy on 07/08/14.

07/08/14: (Day 32) Biometrics appt.

08/10/14: (Day 65) Noticed that USCIS status has changed from Initial Review to Testing & Interview!

08/21/14: (Day 76) Received EAD/AP in the mail!

i logged in to uscis- mycase status, and it doesnt give much info. it says it's last update is on sept22, 2016 (date of receipT). i did my biometrics nov2016 and did not update mycase status? i'm worrying what's happening with my status.

That's normal. Mine hasn't changed since 9/28. They've all but stopped processing in California.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

i'm relieved, i'm not the only one experiencing this dilemma. then, if nothing happens by end of October, i need to request for that infopass for I551 stamp. i hope our new GC will arrived before expiration date. :)

good luck with us guys!

Well, the officer did not even ask for it. When I came, I just told her I need an I-551 stamp for employer purposes. Then I gave her my I797 notice. She just stamped my passport after.

So maybe when you go there, just give them your notice, don't mention your GC. The I797 has all the information she needs.

Just for further clarification, you also brought your InfoPass appointment letter, correct?

Check my timeline for K-1 visa & AOS details

If the infopass place is the same as where we do biometrics then you might risk not being allowed in if they don't accept walk-ins. When I went I had to show my biometrics letter to security so I assume the same would be needed with any appointment there.

Regarding drivers licences, NC gave me one for 2 yrs then only an additional year with the extension letter. A friend who came over the same time as me lives in Wisconsin and got a license until 2018 with his original GC. So yes, it's state to state.

What did you do so they let you keep the card? Can you share us some tips? Thank you :)

Technically they are required to ask for it,  and it is their official guideline to take the expired card from you and issue you a I551 stamp in your passport.

That is what the officer told me in Washington DC at my Infopass when I asked him.  I said - in jest - awww can I keep it - and he didn't look up and replied - no, that isn't an option.

He then went into a long ramble about why would I like to keep an expired document, its useless, and told me stories about people who cried their eyes out at having to hand it over etc etc.

If they let you keep it, that's great, but set your expectation that you must surrender it, when receiving an I551.

As always with USCIS - YMMV.

It's seems they are working on my case. I got a letter to go for biometrics again because they apparently didn't capture everything last year. Not worried, same thing happened with my initial visa and had to go back to London two days later. Got my visa that day and my physical GC a month after I arrived. I spoke to an agent, call center droid whatever and he couldn't tell me more than that. Blah, blah, blah!

Yes, I actually forgot my paper at home. Thankfully my husband sent it to my email a few days before so I just downloaded it on my phone.

Yeah, I am glad they didnt take mine because when I went for N400 biometrics, they asked for it. Also I used it in the airport even after it's expired. Guess it just depends where you are going to get I551 stamp.

Did you have to give the original extension letter or just a photocopy?

I honestly don't remember but whatever I gave her, she gave it back to me.

I always carry a copy of I 797 in my bag ever since my GC expired so it's possible I gave her a copy. Now I also carry the copy of my passport page with the I551 stamp on it, esp since I heard TX is passing the bill on any police officer can ask your residency status when they pull you over. You can never be too careful .

I hate to get technical, but did they ask for your green card or I551?

The reason I ask is that they are both the same thing - just a different format.  A Green Card is a I551 document.  The stamp they put in your passport at the infopass appointment after you surrender your "green card" is also a I551 - an extension of your LPR status - so technically, you are never without a I551.  Either you have an expired one, or you have a current one, stamped in your passport.

If they said at the N400 biometrics, can I see your green card, showing the I551 stamp in the passport is the same as showing the physical piece of plastic.

Sorry to be picky, but these fine details are important, because saying things like "glad they didn't take mine as I needed it at N400" makes it sound like you needed the physical green card, and that isn't the case, and it may make some people who did surrender the physical card worry they did the wrong thing, which they didn't.

Hope you don't mind me pointing this out.  Regards.

Are you asking what they asked for N400 biometrics? It's actually stated in my online profile (I filed N400 online) that we need to bring the green card (see below attachment).

When I got there, they said "can I have your permanent residence card?". So I gave them my green card and they never said a word about it being expired. Now I can only speak based on my experience. You may want to ask around what others who apply N400 with pending I751 experienced (at the biometrics office). I don't want to cause worry just because of one experience. If one thing I learned about immigration, it's not consistent.

Hope that clears things out.
