Hi all, my wife and I received her biometrics appointment yesterday (10/7/16) with an appointment date of 10/17/2016. Unfortunately my wife's mother has cancer so we will be out of the country during this time, so I am having to mail it back and get a rescheduled appointment. My plan is to just attach a small letter that explains the dates we will be out of the country and hope everything goes smoothly. Also, our case is being processed at the Vermont Service Center

I would suggest just doing a walk in asap. I got my biometrics letter mailed to my address in Florida, got it sent to California (im here for work) and walked in to the nearest ASC 2 weeks before my date and was in and out in like 10 minutes. Across the country and 2 weeks early worked.

Just try walking into the scheduled ASC (or any ASC really) first before you mail it back etc. Be polite and explain the situation and you should be fine.

I agree with Harami. Most centers will allow walk-ins but only once you have your biometrics letter (which you have). Let them know of your circumstances and it should be ok.

OK thanks everyone. We are going to try walking in on Monday morning. Does anyone know if ASC offices will be closed for Columbus day?

Good question. Doing quick google, USCIS is closed on weekends and federal holidays. Columbus Day is federal holiday. If you have a spare moment, give them a call to double check.

Hi guys, after originally sending my package I forgot to include my marriage certificate so USCIS sent it back. I resent it last Wednesday, check cashed Friday and I received my NOA1 today!

AOS

6/20/14- Married

8/29/14- Sent AOS Package

9/2/14- Delivered to Chicago lockbox

9/5/14- Received texts with receipt numbers, Online status updated for all four cases to " Acceptance" & " Initial review "

9/9/14- NOA1 hard copies received in mail

9/12/14- Biometrics letter recieved ( Date set for 9/22/14 )

9/15/14- Biometrics completed

9/16/14- Submitted EAD Expedite through congressman

9/24/14- Case moved to " Testing and interview "

9/26/14- EAD and AP Approved

10/2/14- EAD Mailed

10/3/14- EAD 'Delivered'.. but never recieved :ranting:

10/16/14- Interview date received for 11/19 - My birthday! :D

11/19/14- Interview day- Approved- PR status registered & Welcome letter mailed

11/24/14- Welcome letter recieved

11/26/14- GC Mailed

11/29/14- GC Received

They sent your package back for not including your marriage ceritificate? Strange.. because I didn't include our marriage certificate in ours and had no issue in receiving NOA or biometric appointment.

I thought the same thing, upon reading other filers posts about documents they included I noticed a few also didnt include the certificate wih no issues.. No worries though glad to be moving along with the process
