Hey there guys,

So I now this is probably a pretty obvious question, but I can't seem to gather all the needed information, so I was wondering if maybe you can help. I got my citizenship last December and now I want to apply for my parents. As I understand I will need to file I-130 for each parent, wait for it to be approved here in NVC, and then for it to be transferred to the consulate, where my parents will get an interview and if approved issued an immigration visa. Since I personally adjusted status here in the US from an F-1, I never went through the consulate stage, and therefore have some questions:

1. Other than birth certificate, marriage certificate for my parents and a divorce decree, do I need to send any other supporting documents with I-130?

2. When does the I-864 come in?

3. If they are approved at the consulate stage, how soon do they need to get to the US?

4. How long is the process currently taking? We all have an event in May that we have to attend, and we were thinking that we can combine them coming here for the event with the permanent move, however they do currently have a 3-year B-2 visa.

I really appreciate any kind of answers. This has just been a little hard for me wrap my head around, as my own path was a bit different. Thank you guys in advance!

My husband filed documents for his parents in October 2015. I'll try to answer as much as I remember.

Yes, you need to file I-130 for each parent. Once it's approved, you will be invoiced and have to fill out an application online. Then you will need to submit copies of documents and I-864 (If i remember correctly). You will need to file I-864 for each parent (we originally send only one; so were required to send one more). However there will be only one affidavit of support fee. After that if everything was sent as required, the case will be transferred to consulate and the interview will be scheduled. Your parents will need to complete the medical before the interview.

Time wise, as I mentioned before, my husband filed papers In October 2015, the interview date is scheduled on September 20th in Moscow. I think they'll have up to one year to arrive to US. There is also some restriction on the medical. It is only valid for certain time. Please feel free to pm me.
