Hey everyone, I sincerely apologize if I'm no where close to posting in the right forum topic! I've never been good at it.

Anyway a little backstory:

I came to the USA as a visitor/with the intentions of visiting (I am Canadian - from Ontario), due to personal issues while I was visiting my fiance (at the time) in the states, we withdrew from the K1 Fiance Visa and married April 8th, 2016.
I am now here in the states (Buffalo, NY area), adjusting my status.

I got my Biometrics appointment completed July 12th, 2016 and it has been almost 2 months (September 12th will be the 2 month marker) since I've heard anything from USCIS.
Does anyone have a general timeline as to how long they had to wait to hear back to get their interview date given to them?

I know I have to wait my turn, but I don't know how long I should be expecting to wait until I hear back with an interview date!

Thanks in advance.

Yours impatiently,

Adequate Canadian

There's no precise estimates only forum posts and user created timelines

It all depends on how exotic is your case, how much evidence did you send and which red flags might exist. I've had no interview for example and GC was mailed before AP and EAD

Which month did you fill and sent your AOS package?

Thanks for the response, we filed May 26th, 2016.

Everything was pretty fast up until July 12th and now we're at a stand still and I'm just sad.

I called USCIS and she said I should call back in November if I haven't heard anything.

It's just depressing. I'm literally stuck in the house all day, I want to work and be a person.

Haha. :(

I took driving classes, learned how to drive and got driving license during that period of time and have had my IT homelab to play around with networks and keep my Sysadmin skills sharp.

Bureaucracy is a b..ch, nothing much you can do except trying to call USCIS to get some update on your case.

My point is there are ways to keep yourself busy. Learn to code, volunteer somewhere, stay positive.

Oh, what a day, what a lovely day!

It's been about 6 months since I've been here and I'm slowly running out of hobbies. Hahahaha
Thankfully, my step Mother-in-law will be giving me a fancy sewing machine this weekend, so I can learn how to do that.

It's just driving me nuts. We only have 1 car and zero buses in our town and nothing is in walking distance.
I'm just starting to get antsy.

Can you get your driver's license without an SSN?

It depends from state to state but here in Florida where I am, you need to have SSN to get learner's permit and then driver's license.

Getting SSN while waiting for your GC or interview is definitely something you want to do asap.

Pretty sure you will need SSN to start working too.

I was told by my wife that public transit is poop in majority of USA, but still was sad about it after whole life experience with buses and waiting less than 5-10 minutes for transit, so I understand you really well.

Oh, what a day, what a lovely day!

See, I was trying to research if I could obtain a SSN before I was approved for a Green Card, but nothing came up.
I'll look into this, thank-you.

Looking at your timeline in your signature and I'm confused. What all did you file? Just the I-485? or did you file the I-131 and I-765 also?

The actual approval of I-485 can take 8 to 12 months.
