I applied for my AOS last year around October/November and spent Christmas here, but this year I was hoping for us to go to England for Christmas.

Looking at the forms though, it seems like I can only apply if there's an emergency. is this the case? is it possible the green card could come before then so we could travel?

Thanks

You can apply to AP without an emergency while applying with AOS. You can just put your projected leave date as unknown, as you don't know when you would leave, but you have all right to apply for it when you apply for AOS.

Did you apply for EAD? Or JUST the green card?

I'd say your green card should be coming soon based off what you're saying, but have you been checking up on it? Most people start asking questions after 6 months or so.

Oh man, I didn't apply for the travel at the time because it was asking for the specific date :|

And yes, I applied and received the EAD. Haven't called them yet, do I just start asking what the status is?

Thanks

Apply for AP ASAP, send a copy of your NOA1 for your I-485 with it, this makes it free. You don't have to write in a specific date. It takes 90 days to get AP, you may get the GC in time, but if you don't, you should get AP in time if you file for it ASAP. It's form I-131.

I'd actually follow up on the status of your AOS case. You should have received something by now. If you get nowhere with a service request, I'd get your elected officials involved immediately.
