I was thinking of visiting my husband this mid-December. Is it better to book a flight now or wait till right before/around Christmas time for cheaper deals on flights?

Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the early afternoon are generally the cheapest days to look for tickets.

21 days out is the sweet spot, but that still can't be followed 100%.

You can use an app/website like SkyScanner to alert you when prices change for the dates and locations you're looking for! That has been my favorite method and I have saved hundreds flying to see my husband by using their site.

Visa Issued: 21-February-2017     Visa issued same day as interview
DHL tracking information received: 22-February-2017     DHL tracking number appeared 28 hours after interview, scheduled for delivery the next day
Visa in hand: 23-Feb-2017
US POE (Minneapolis): 26-Feb-2017

I book in advance when I can, especially when a holiday where heavy traffic is expected. Airlines tend to jack the prices up because they are banking on last minute travelers. Do you have an airline preference?

I also use a credit card that offers me savings (where I can accumulate points etc.).
