Describe how we met

Does anyone have any advice on how to style the "How we met" letter for the I129F? How much is too much information? Like most couples, we met on the internet before we met in person and most of our history is via the net. Should the letter be a certain length?

Thanks all :)

no letter is required for the I-129F.

simply describe the circumstances in which you met in person ... i stated our's plainly as: met online w/first meeting 4/03 and subsequent meetings 5/03, 8/03, 3/04 & 11/04.

that was it. just provide evidence of your meeting. this is not the time to provide an essay of your love. save that for the interview.

We added a supplemental page to the I129 and explained how we first met on the internet and then in person. Presto!

Whilst some have only put a simple short description of how they met and this sufficed, for others it may assist a petition if more detail is included in the description of how one met by including an attachment. It is afterall asking for you to describe. Meeting online has nothing to do with how one met in person. Describing in more detail IMO could go a long way in making a clearer picture in the minds eye of an adjudicator, with the supporting evidence to back it up of how you met within the required 2 year period.

I put..................we met in Dublin 2003 at a wedding-see supplemental page.

Then I wrote a small paragraph about how we have seen eachother since then(I also thought it would help explain all the plane tickets and passport stamps I inculded in the petition).

It is a little different for everyone-like Aussie said

I am going through Casablanca as well and met my guy over the net...I included a short statement mentioning the initial meeting but placing the emphasis on an ongoing relationship and subsequent trips that I have made to Morocco....Good Luck.

The key to this is: whatever you decide to put in this answer, make sure you back it up with other evidence. :)

I think our response was 2 paragraphs long, about 5 or 6 lines in total? And then we had the passport stamps, boarding passes, photos, etc. etc.

This part of the I-129F should be simple yet informative, but you should include any thing that you think would be meaningful to them. The length of it should depend on all the things you have done with your fiance and the letter will be longer depending on how long you've known your fiance. Good luck.

You don't have to write a thesis for them :) Remember that what they're really interested in is how you came to meet in person and how that satisfies the legal requirements for the visa.

You could say something like 'we first met on the internet in X chatroom in X month and we became very close and decided to meet in person on X day (blah blah blah) and go on to tell them what they really need to know...

Karen - Melbourne, Australia/John - Florida, USA

- Proposal (20 August 2000) to marriage (19 December 2004) - 4 years, 3 months, 25 days (1,578 days)

STAGE 1 - Applying for K1 (15 September 2003) to K1 Approval (13 July 2004) - 9 months, 29 days (303 days)

STAGE 2A - Arriving in US (4 Nov 2004) to AOS Application (16 April 2005) - 5 months, 13 days (164 days)

STAGE 2B - Applying for AOS to GC Approval - 9 months, 4 days (279 days)

STAGE 3 - Lifting Conditions. Filing (19 Dec 2007) to Approval (December 11 2008)

STAGE 4 - CITIZENSHIP (filing under 5-year rule - residency start date on green card Jan 11th, 2006)

*N400 filed December 15, 2011

*Interview March 12, 2012
