Donald Trump on Wednesday made his immigration policies clear: Mexico will fund an impenetrable, beautiful border wall, and the Republican presidential nominees administration will begin its construction on the first day of his presidency.

We will build a great wall along the southern border, and Mexico will pay for the wall, Trump said. Remember 100 percent. They don't know it yet, but they're going to pay for the wall.

Associated Press has had a go at fact-checking some of the claims in Trumps speech tonight. Its pretty long. Here are just a couple:

On people illegally in the US

Trump: Theyre treated better than our vets.

The facts: People in the country illegally do not have the right to work, vote or receive most government benefits. A modest number have been exempted from deportation because of an Obama administration action, but most live under the risk of being removed from the country.

Veterans are guaranteed government health care and because almost all are citizens, the right to vote and other government benefits.

The quality of their care has been criticized by Trump and others, but people in the country illegally do not have equivalent rights to health care, except for emergency treatment. Public hospitals are required to provide emergency medical care regardless of immigration status.

On the number of people in the US illegally

Trump: Our government has no idea. It could be 3 million, it could be 30 million. They have no idea.

The facts: The government actually has an idea. The homeland security department estimates there are 11.4 million people in the United States illegally. Few in the immigration debate challenge that estimate.

The figure comes from an analysis of the most recent census data. The government compares the number of people whom the census reports as foreign-born with the number of people who have been admitted legally and gained citizenship. The most recent estimate dates to January 2012. It roughly matches the estimates of demographers from the Pew Foundation, which issues its estimates more rapidly than the government.

Experts believe the number of people in the US illegally has been steadily declining as Mexicans and others return to their home country and illegal border crossings dwindle.

Donald Trump might want to build a wall, but his campaign slogan knows no borders. Before Trump took the stage for his much-hyped immigration policy speech on Wednesday evening, former New York Mayor Rudi Giuliani stood up in a hat that read seriously MAKE MEXICO GREAT AGAIN ALSO.

Decrying Trump's "scapegoating" as nothing new from a historical perspective, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) called it a "blood-curdling" address, showing him to be as "irresponsible and bigoted as ever."

"It's bigoted because you're blaming a group of people for larger crimes," Nadler told CNN's "New Day." "It's exactly the same thing as the fascists did in Europe: The problems are all because of the Jews. Here, the problems are all because of the Mexicans. The problems are all because of the Irish in the 1850s in anti-immigration hysteria in the 1840s and '50s, the Know-Nothings, it was oh the country's being destroyed by the Irish immigrants. It's the same thing. You blame all the problems on a group of people who are not responsible for those problems. Yes, there are people who commit crimes who are here illegally. But most crimes are committed by people who are here."

Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson laced into Trump's speech, mocking in particular his call to triple the number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

The former governor of New Mexico asked, "what are they going to do? Go door-to-door in New Mexico? America wont stand for that.

"Adding specifics and detail to an anti-immigrant policy does not change that policy or make it any less offensive," Johnson said in a statement, in which he declared that Americans, and particularly Latinos, deserve better" than Trump's speech.

Good grief, leave poor Ezekiel out of it. Context is everything. If people want to use the Torah for something that has nothing to do with what it is saying you can't really help it.. it shouldn't surprise me, and yet I'm continually surprised. Next time you have a Bible available (heck there are some online now as we don't live in olden-times), crank it out and actually read the context and commentaries of what that verse actually means.
