Hey guys, im ganna get my case number and invoice ID from NVC tomorrow..need your help guys ..whats the first step i need to do ? Thank in advance ..and good luck to all of you .

Very first step is choose your choice of agent (DS-261) if you're using a lawyer that lawyer will automatically be chosen as the agent by NVC if not using a lawyer you basically fill out who will receive notification from NVC.

How long ago was your I-130 approved? You need to give it some time to get to NVC.

Im not using lowyer , so do i need to wait for letter from NVC or i can just fo ahead and start choosing agent and paying the 2 fees ?

Yes, choose the agent and once you do that call NVC to have it reviewed. The reason for doing this is that it unlocks the IV fee so you can pay it. Just bare in mind that you can't pay both fees at the same time. After you pay the AOS fee it has to show paid before you can move on to the next payment of the IV and once the IV shows paid then then you will be able to fill out the visa application (DS-260)

Can someone tell me if after you get confirmation that your packet arrives at the NVC from the mail carrier, how long do you wait to call to confirm this with nvc and ask for them to go over your DS-260?

I am a bit confused with your timeline...what visa are you applying for?

Give it 4 weeks the earliest. 6 weeks is the normal time framrle they would say for them to finish reviewing your case. There are others who called to ask for update in 2 weeks timeand do found out earlier for RFE

Ok now I can answer your question. When you send your docs to NVC you can call them to verify if they received the docs. That's considered your scan date. The DS-260 doesn't get reviewed. It's the visa application that is filled out online by your step daughter. The DS-261 is the choice of agent that is filled out online and then reviewed by NVC.

What stage of the visa process are you on right now?

Ok ignore my prior post I saw the other post first. Ok So you sent the docs in. You can call NVC tomorrow to verify that they receive the Docs. Then you wait 6 weeks from the date they receive the doc for your case to be completed.

Timeline

Well, NVC just opened for this last week of September... really hoping I hear something this week! I sent a request for help to my congressman last week, haven't heard anything from them yet. It seems like some people hear from their senator/representative office very quickly, and with others it takes a couple of weeks (or not at all).

More than seven weeks past my scan date now.

12/14 Met at work in Rwanda

2/21/15 Became a couple

11/19/15 Married

11/23/15 I left Rwanda

12/30/15 Mailed I-130

1/06/16 NOA1

5/03/16 NOA2!

5/06/16 NVC received case

5/20/16 Case number assigned

5/23/16 Email from NVC with case number

5/23/16 Choice of Agent filled out, AOS fee invoiced and paid

5/31/16 Called NVC, reviewed I-261 over the phone

6/02/16 IV bill invoiced and paid

7/28/16 Finally! All police clearances and birth certificate received; mailed IV and AOS; filed I-260

8/04/16 Official scan date (tracking shows "delivered" the day before)

8/15/16 Visiting my husband! 10 days

9/01/16 Received checklist in error, claiming our application was on hold because of a waiver application we never filed

9/02/16 Sent for supervisor review, six week timeframe given

9/13/16 Sent for "document review", whatever that is, told the timeframe is now indefinite

9/20/16 Contacted US Representative Adam Smith's office for assistance (WA)

9/26/16 3 N/As and Case Complete!

11/14/16 Interview: approved pending medical! (Vaccines hadn't been available)

11/19/16 Visa received in passport

12/09/16 POE Seattle

03/06/17 Green card received (address changed after POE, no problem)

5/2017 Our baby is due
