Hello September!! I am excited about the new month with new hopes. I will be in the NVC stage soon as they receive my file and i was getting ready for it. I had a few doubts on the way. Can anyone please let me know what to do in this case. My wife is petitioning for me and will be taking a leave to come to my home country until my visa process is completed.

So i wanted to ask as she has to file I-864 does she have to show that she is working and show the current income even if she is on leave or she just files it as zero income. As the co sponsor her parent already meet the income requirement so we just need to file a separate I-864 for them right ?

Please help me with my doubts.

Thanks.

Hello Everyone,

I have a few questions hopefully I can get some answers. :) I just paid my AOS and now I need to start gathering my documents.

1. Can I use my same proof of relationship items that I used with my I-130 or do I need to update with them?

(I was looking somewhere and it said that I should have update proof since originally filed. It has only been 3 months ( thankfully) and beside Facebook and text messages I don't have much else.)

2. Does my husband need to send me a copy of his birth certificate and passport?

3. Do we both need police certificates (Is it the same thing as a police report )?

4. What does U.S. status mean?

5. I have our marriage certificates. Does my husband need a photocopy or can 1 person bring them to the interview?

Thanks any answers :star:

I hope this month brings good news to everyone waiting here!

1st scan - July 15

2nd scan - Aug 29

Now I remember the lawyer saying my hubby will be here after 8 weeks! So unprofessional ....and the checklist was because of her! We didn't knew we needed to send 3 different police certificates (Peru).

Well...everything happens for a reason. I hope this is our month.

Please double check everything even if you have a lawyer. If I had found VJ before maybe things will be different now.

Yours story and my story is exactly same. My first scan date was 19th July and second is 29th August. I too ended up getting a checklist because of my lawyer. She was very unprofessional so i fired her. And I got checklist for missing passport copy. When i asked my laweyer she sais she didnt had it so sent my packet without. I asked her why didnt u asked me it would have taken 5 min to scan my passport and email it to you. Crying :,(

Hi guys, I just need some help with I-864. My husband's income is just a couple of hundred less to pass the requirement for 3 members so we would like to use a joint sponsor which is his stepdad and mom. They all live in the same household but he files his tax return separately. My questions would be, should we write his parents's name in his I-864, Part 6? Which form should his parents use, would it be the I-864a?

1. No more proof of relationship needed for the NVC. The "proof of relationship" mentioned on the check list for your NVC documents is for household members of sponsors and joint sponsors (to prove they are household members). If you are not using any household members, this does not apply to you.

2. If your husband is the immigrant, yes you need a copy of his birth certificate and passport.

3. Police certificates only needed for the immigrant, not the USC.

4. Sponsors must prove they are either citizens or LPRs so either proof of citizenship (birth certificate or passport or naturalisation certificate) or copy of the green card for an LPR for sponsors.

5. Photocopy of marriage certificate required for NVC. Original to be taken to the interview.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014
