hi everyone congratulations to all CC and interview schedules of this month , i just have a question in my mind for two weeks i just thinking about it , my interview date on Oct 13 and i received the interview instruction by E-mail and what i noticed is my visa category is CR1 (Conditional resident) and according to that i will get a 2 year green card because of our marriage has not passed 2 years yet , now our marriage anniversary is on 15th january 2017 (after 3 months),

now im confused cause i want to have the 10 years turm GC , i have an idea and i just want to share it and see if its right or wrong , im thinking of not paying the GC Fees after the interview and will pay it after our 2nd year anniversary after we reach in US and pay the Fees along with the form I-751 (Condition Removal)

i will appreciate your feedbacks and advices

Another question.... How do you all go about getting health insurance? We're all living abroad. Did you buy temporary insurance before landing, or did you buy when you arrived through a market place? Or are you waiting until you get a job that provides it?

USCIS

April 4th noa2

NVC

Received case April 22

June 20th CASE COMPLETE?

Interview date: waited 160 days, January 3 ... APPROVED! VISA COLLECTED JANUARY 5

Hey E & E ,

what photo you mean?

if it is passport size you have to take the new one not the USCIS ones

if it is wedding photos, so it is not needed but for some People it is, some time the interview officer asks like Pakistani embassy i heard from the people who had been through the interview they were asked to show them to the officer, even though it is not requested in the letter or by NVC so these things are not difficult don't bother yourself and get ready and just do it if possible

sounds like your own rules , :) , you have to find out for long you can stay there without GC OR how long you can apply and pay for your GC after your arrival to the US?

I have a book of USCIS I downloaded in DEC 2015, if you can do anything i will send it to you specially by email, i think these rules and regulations are there, it is a long book

don't mind just shared with you opinion

This is probably a dumb question, I'm still pending to have an interview date, but I was reviewing the list of documents needed to be brought in. Now, they're asking for the copies of the marriage/birth certificates, affidavit of support, right? We don't have to request new ones? Just use the ones sent to NVC? I don't think the list specifies whether it should be a copy of the document previously sent... It'll be a pain having to request a birth certificate, especially for myself, since I was born in another country and it'll take about a month to request and get it certified. :/

as far as we know for us it is important to bring Original Birth Certificate,Original Marriage Certificate, as the NVC requested us saying" whatever you sent copies to NVC, you must bring the Original ones to the interview, you need to find out quickly what is needed Original or Copies and take action ASAP, you Still have a lot of time to the interview Gate

remember every embassy and Consulate rules and regulations are different from one another, may be go your own embassy site and find out what it is?

Congrats to everyone who got their interview date! Time will fly, it's super fascinating, after everything else seemed to go really slowly...

You'll do fine...I heard the officers at the German embassy are quite friendly and past members can attest to this!

Best of luck in your interview and you'll be back on here to post that you have been APPROVED!

I heard that as well, but I am super nervous. Don't know why, but it feels like an oral exam and I hate those... :cry2: I just hope the next 72 hours fly by really quickly, so that I can then relax a bit again. Thanks for wishing me luck! And thanks for the awesome gif :goofy:

Got my passport yesterday with my CR1 visa in it, and my 2years B1/B2 visa was not cancelled. We also applied for CRBA and PASSPORT for our 4months old baby at the LAGOS EMBASSY and got it less than 10 working days we were officially told. Thanks to everyone on this forum. I am extremely happy I will be joining my hubby soon and our little Princess will be meeting Daddy for the first time since she came into this world. It's an Awesome Feeling!!! Thanks to USCIS, NVC, LAGOS CONSULATE AND MY VISA JOURNEY FAM. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!

Congratulations! That's wonderful :)

We only wish we did lol...not giving up yet ..looking forward to one in the next 2 weeks or so...thanks to you all???

Oh, I understand, but you will receive it soon :) Did you ask whether they already started scheduling interviews for your consulate?

Medical is super easy unless you have anything to worry about :)

Do you mean the passport pictures? Those are required. As for other pictures to proof the relationship, then that is probably for many more a matter of feeling better going into the interview.

The way I understand it is that the date when you arrive in the US with your visa in your passport is what is the deciding factor over your visa. If you arrive before your 2nd anniversary, ,you will only get the conditional 2-year GC, if you arrive on or after your 2nd anniversary, then you will get the 10 year GC.

for the interview it would be good not necessary to have them but I would but them in a small album just in case how much you have or you can find and bring them to the interview ,

for passport photos if you did not send it to nvc you will need 4 for the medical and bring 4 for the interview just in case

Jakson, your thought is a very creative one, but it doesn't work that way. The two-year-married date is calculated at the time you actually immigrate to the US, not when you pay the Green Card fee. The expiration date on your conditional green card is two years from your POE date, not the date you pay the fee.

Now...you CAN work it out this way...go to your interview, but DO NOT ENTER THE US until AFTER 15 January 2017. If you do this, you will have an IR-1 visa (10-year) not a CR-1 (2-year) Conditional visa. As long as your medical is still good (6 months from the day of your medical), you can do it this way. You'll save a ton of money and save yourself a boat-load of effort. It just depends if you have the patience to wait those three months.

Good luck to you and your spouse!

Hello guys !

I reached states and my POE was Washington Dulles airport. Airport was bit crowded but when my turn came officer asked only one question, Do you know when you got married ? I was like yesterday was our first anniversary :) then he stamped my passport ! I thought I will go through second security check which I always been sent whenever I entered states on visit visa but not this time :) feel very much relieved. Thanks to everyone who helped me and I wish everyone good luck for their process.

My husband he has been here since June 28th. Got SS card about a month later. He had been working now a week. Actually got a job 2 weeks after getting his card.

We had him get on Monster.co and careerbuilder.com (there are other sites) and start getting those emails of jobs he is interested in and the are you in. This helps give you an outlook whats out there and get on companies and recruiters radar.

Resume just do it up American style. My husbands I had to change alot because in Nigeria they have to give alot of personal info that's illegal here to ask. And not recommended to be put on a resume.

Once he got here and got his SS (can't do anything without it) we did some online applications and within 2 weeks he was hired.

One thing many of the jobs he wanted they wanted US drivers license many with at least 6 months of experience (and this was for none driving jobs) so he was discouraged in that. But find something in the meantime.

Here in Houston the backlog to get license is crazy. He took his written test August 1st and the next available road test is September 8th. So 1 more week. Thank God than he can drive himself.

Thanks for the answer. I am aware of the sites but I am hoping there is better help than those but yes I will be using them.

The driver license and security card, do we have to make them at the address he gave on his petition such as mine? I did most of the filing and I told him to give my us address for us address on the forms. He has a sister living in Chicago and eventually we will go there right after we land. So does it matter where we live once arriving in us?
