Are you asking if they will deliberately send out an RFE after 6 months? No. The only time an RFE is sent out is if there's some problem/mistake with your application; that's the only reason for an RFE.

yeah, but if they don't realize it after the fact that something is missing or there is a problem.

Potomac Service Center push back to June 12,2016 process?

I think this is a mistake.  According to others who had Potomac, it has said June 12th for the past few months without moving.  I freaked out when I saw this, but I really believe it to be an error.

Let's hope....

Hi everyone,

a question just come up in my mind. My PD is 6th Sep 2016 and my passport got expored back in November 2016 and still waiting for approval. Will there be any issue for that as I renewed my Passport. Will they approve my case or they gonna ask for new copy and take another 6 months to approve my case?

Received the email from NVC today (3/1) saying the case is completed.

Our NVC scan date is 12/8/2016.

Waited six week and called NVC on 1/20 and was told the case will be reviewed by supervisor.

Waited another six weeks and received the email.

So the estimate of 10 -12 weeks process time at NVC is quiet accurate for our case. Thanks.

I thought I'd ask a question here since I have a feeling may of you will be dealing with the same situation. I'm looking to file my taxes and I'm wondering about what the heck to do. I was married in Ethiopia, my spouse's home country, we have not been married here in US, he has never been here and has no income here, he doesn't have a SSN or an ITIN. Do I have to file married filing separately??? Is that really my only option? It's like the worst option for me in terms of tax credits...anybody else dealing with this?

I just ended up filing single. You'll have to file either as single or married separate and you will have to mail your taxes physically. Since he doesn't have a SSN, you'll have to put NRA in the spot for SSN. NRA = non-resident alien

I had this same question... I think married filing separately is an option without the SSN or ITIN. I believe I saw a thread here on VJ about someone getting an ITIN number for their spouse even though they were overseas and had never worked in the US? I was going to consult an accountant for advice. Under NO circumstance should you file single though!!! You are married and must file as married.

April Mora - I'm sorry but this is not correct advice. Once someone is married they are married... you cannot file single. If you file single while going through the CR1/IR1 visa process you can delay your whole case. This happened to a friend of mine who was brining his wife from Bangladesh and he got married the previous tax year, and accidentally filed single. NVC caught the error and it set their case back 4 months.

Oh my God, my husband tax still single, Because the tax guy here in Kuwait advised my husband not to change single to married until I get in US. Today is our 2nd wedding anniversary. Next week my husband will file tax again for 2016, I already asked him to change from singe to married. Once I got the Updated Tax Transcript 2016 copy, can I sent the copy of tax updated with married status to the NVC?

My case at NVC..Scan date Feb 3, 2017- I just called the NVC today, he told me that my case completed will be by the end of March. I hope..:)

God bless you all.

Just filled this out myself and had the same question. When filling out the paperwork (is it W2 or W4?), it says on there to mark single if your SO is a non resident alien.
