"On September 8, 2016, we received your Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, Fiance(E), or Orphan, Receipt Number LIN#########, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by October 8, 2016, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

I assume the receipt notice the above is referring to is the NOA? [i-797C].

My receipt number when entered to check my case status is not showing instead it says error. When should i check it or should i call USCIS to know about the case status or wait for a week and then inquire about it.

How is "Case Was Received" different than the NOA1? Aren't they the same? When they receive the case and assign a case number and send you notification about it, they are referring to the same thing. The same case receive date should also be on your official NOA1 letter that you received in the mail

How is "Case Was Received" different than the NOA1? Not sure, that's why I'm asking.

Aren't they the same? Now that you bring it up, yes it should be the same as the date on the USCIS matches the official NOA1 received.

When they receive the case and assign a case number and send you notification about it, they are referring to the same thing.

The same case receive date should also be on your official NOA1 letter that you received in the mail

Guess I was just excited as it finally showed up on the USCIS case status.
