So I got approved 01/06/2017. Now what? Can someone tell me what's next for me?

I'm guessing you mean your NOA2?

First of all I'd suggest you take a look at the NVC guides on this site - they are extremely helpful and very detailed. You can also check out the official State Department site here: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved.html

In a nutshell the regional processing center will send your package to the NVC (national visa center). This could take a couple days, or a couple weeks, its random. Once NVC receives your package it will go into a queue to be numbered by NVC. This can take up to 2 weeks, so you will have to call NVC to check on the status of your case (using your USCIS number and personal details). Once your NVC number is assigned you will have access to the CEAC website where you will pay your invoices and fill out a few more forms (DS-260 and DS-261). After that you will need to submit two packages (AOS and IV) which will contain documents like the US citizen's tax and income information and your police records, amongst other things.

Check the NVC guides on this site for a much more detailed account of what I just summarized!!

Aissatou20 - I'm guessing you got an RFE (request for evidence)? What were the other documents you wanted to send in?

My suggestion is to send them exactly what was requested, nothing more. Sending additional documents without being asked could slow down your case, but I'll invite others who have gotten RFE's to add their thoughts.

Ok i wanted to smed in my tranaction history of money sent and 2 more pictures of us during our wedding

I agree with misshepburn, send only what they asked.... No more in my opinion. It sounded like a request for Additional documents.. The request letter would have the items they need from you itemized...Good luck.

Hey, one question I have a letter sent from immigration stating that i need to submit passport style photos. I want to know if i can also a few other documents along side with that knowing that they were not asked for????

As being one of the two people who received and RFE here and was approved, I will go with the unpopular opinion of: send everything they need plus more. If you think they might ask for it later, send it. Bear in mind we are talking about USCIS and this is not the case for NVC checklists. I would do the opposite if it were the NVC-they tend to delay if you send more than what they ask.

The thing is, USCIS is notorious for sending RFEs only one at a time. So you may get one for the photos now, but they might decide they want something else again, giving you a second RFE which is not that uncommon, unfortunately.

This is the RFE in my case: They wanted certified government copies of my marriage certificate, when I originally sent the original copy from the city hall.

This is what I gave them: The certified copy they asked for, copy of my naturalization certificate (which might have been a just in case-since I sent them copies of my US passport), and a few pictures of our wedding, honeymoon, etc, just to prove a bonafide marriage. This was all included with a cover letter (you can find a template of some good ones online).

After we got the "Recieved RFE" case status, we got the NOA2 update after only 3 business days.

Hope this helps you decide.

09/24 - Sent out I-130 to Phoenix, AZ

09/26 - Received at Phoenix (somewhere in between, the I-797 was mailed and marked back to sender due to post office error)

10/24 - Finally got the I-797 NOA-1 resent to me - forwarded my case to NSC

11/04 - Status changed to RFE

11/12 - Got the RFE letter in the mail (certified copy of marriage certificate)

11/18 - Mailed in RFE response

11/21 - RFE received at USCIS

11/21 - RFE status changed to response review

11/29 - Case approved at USCIS

12/03 - Received NOA-2 in the mail

12/09 - Case sent to NVC

12/15 - Case received by NVC

12/20 - NVC case number and IIN assigned

12/21 - DS-261 submitted online & gave email addresses

12/22 - Had NVC review DS-261 over the phone, paid AOS fee

12/24 - Paid IV fee

12/28 - Submitted DS-260

12/29 - Submitted packet to NVC via FedEx

01/03 - Packet delivered to NVC

01/04 - NVC scan date

03/02 - NVC Supervisor Review

03/16 - Case Complete at NVC

03/30 - Interview date confirmed over phone (and P4 email?)

03/30 - P4 letter received via email

05/02 - Interview at Manila Embassy

If I was in your shoe l, I will send in everything. Even tho you will have to wait 30days or less, it's better then sending send everything then what they ask for and end up getting RET again and again and have to wait another 30 days again. Send everything and get over it.

wish you good luck

So while things are moving slow here, my husband just landed in LA and is on his way to see me for 3 weeks!!!  I was stressed about him going through customs but they barely batted an eye at his esta. happiness!!!!

May I ask where he is traveling from? My husband attempted to visit from Australia and was stopped by US customs as he was boarding in Sydney ?

It only makes the process that much more difficult when we can't see our spouses

susanm26 -- What nationality is your husband? Where are you guys in the process? If he's Australian, he should not have had problems visiting as Australia and US have a visa waiver program (VWP) with one another. The EU also has VWP, so when my husband recently visited from Germany (he's German) he had no problems. He came with print outs of his return flight back to Munich, a letter from his German employer stating the day he was expected back at work, and copies of our most recent communication with NVC/USCIS. When he arrived at customs in the US, the only difference was that he couldn't check in with the electronic processing kiosks -- he was "flagged" to go see a person right away. The only thing they wanted to know/see was his return flight back to Germany.

He is Australian and was flying out of Sydney (he had already had one flight into Sydney).

he was literally stopped while walking on to the plane to board, I was on the phone with him.

Someone from US customs was on the phone and began questioning him regarding his visit. He told them he had a return visit already booked back to Australia and that he was also still in contract with his employment. They put him on a brief hold and then denied his visit and cancelled his ESTA. They did not even tell him why.

Thankfully, he was told by someone who is employed at the airport in Sydney why he was denied. ? So at least we found out why, even though we think it is absolutely ridiculous.
