Hi guys!

Quick question for the NVC filers:

I just submitted my DS-261 with the understanding that I can do this either before or after the AOS payment since both DS-261 and AOS are activated around the same time anyway. But when I submitted the DS-261 without first paying the AOS fee, I could no longer access the payment for AOS and it now displays the standard error that you would see when the system is in the process of invoicing your IV ("This This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted.") Husband called NVC and the operator said it wouldn't be activated again until we receive our welcome letter, which is in 4 weeks.

What's happening? Any help or idea would be much appreciated!

That happened to me as well as soon as I submitted the DS-261. Don't panic. It happens when they are processing it according to the NVC Process guide: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

The guide also explains this "error." I would say for you to check in about 24 hours later and it should be ok. Also you can check the Immigrant Visa Invoice Payment Center if that has been updated as well: https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Thank you so much for your input! Husband called again and the operator told him we filed the DS-261 so fast that they were still in the process of invoicing the AOS. I checked again now (24 hours later) and it still appears an error. I was just wondering since the AOS usually depends on the issuing of a case number (one week after the case number is assigned the AOS is invoiced) but the IV is dependent on the DS-261.

On a different note, I know that sometimes both spouses will be able to attend the interview. I hear conflicting reports about how that is fine to do vs. the consulate not liking it very much. I know you've been on this site for a bit, do you have any input on this? My consulate would be Frankfurt, if that makes a difference :)

I'll repost this because I don't think I received input yet :)

Maybe someone has some information?

Hi, Ssonjasch!

I would suggest that you follow the visajourney thread on your own consulate: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Germany

I myself follow my own consulate's thread (Tokyo) and people generally leave helpful reviews and discuss answers to questions and other pertinent information especially about interviews.

Good luck with hr K-3 visa. Not many people file for K-3 visa because K-3 cases take longer than CR-1 cases these days. It used to be way faster than the CR-1 cases and that's why people used to file for K-3, but keep us posted on how it goes. :)

Hello,

I sent in our paperwork on 9/15, and received the NOA1 about 10 days later. Our case went to Nebraska. I'm in the US and he's in Denmark.

Should I be concerned that we haven't received the NOA2 by now? The status on the website just says that my case was received.

Thanks.

10-14 days is an acceptable amount of time to receive the hardcopy of your NOA1. Nebraska right now appears to be the slowest of the three service centers with wait-times projected to be anywhere from 4-6 months; as you can see from the status tables the excellent thegreatphoenix puts out, nearly all of us who are at the Nebraska center are still waiting for our NOA2. The website simply shows the last status update, i.e., the service center has received the case. Do not expect this to change until you're application is finally approved, which is likely another 4-5 months away.

Fingers crossed that some more approvals come our way this week! I saw that a bunch of June and July I130s were transferred to Potomac two weeks ago (can't recall from where). That was rather disheartening. Has anyone on here been approved by Potomac?

Hello everyone. Sorry after a long time and curiously waiting for my NOA-2 but there seems to be a halt at POTOMAC .Getting worried about what time will it take to get approved.

Stay positive and be patient. It always slows down at the end of the year. Hopefully we start getting approvals from YSC soon. ✌✌
