So here is an interesting one.  I received my NAO2 on April 1st saying it was approved.  The date on it was 3/27/17.  This morning I got a text notification that my case status was updated online.  I checked and it says online that my case was sent to NVC on April 10th.
.... Now I just received 4 e-mails stating the same thing.

It takes a while for them to send your case to NVC, its not instantaneous from the moment you are approved.

It will also take a while for NVC to receive your case (my case was sent on April 5th, and they put it in the system yesterday).

You are on track!  I'd call the NVC in a week and ask if they have received it.  If not (they may say it takes 6 weeks, but don't worry, it doesn't), just call again the next day.

Updating the list again. Didn't find an entry for H&T. Just provide me the PD, SC, other info if case has been approved.

Hi there, I'm still waiting on NOA2. I'm one of the formerly Nebraska SC folks who had their case transferred to Texas but still haven't heard back which is beyond frustrating so, everyone still waiting, I wish you strength. I know I need it. I had a question about the affidavit of support that perhaps some of you could answer. I made significantly more in the previous years (2015, 2014) but my income for this coming year and the most recent year that I filed (2016) just barely cleasr the poverty guidelines (PhD candidate on a teaching fellowship!). However, I DO make slightly more than 125 percent of the guidelines for my household size. Do you think there will be concern about being just barely cleared of the threshold? Or is it one of those things where you clear it or you don't? Should I get a joint sponsor even though I technically clear the threshold? Any thoughts?

Help needed!! I called nvc yesterday and they gave me my case # and invoice# and was told that they are working on my case today. I logged on and was able to fill DS-261. This morning I paid my AOS fee for $120 which is in process at the moment. What I don't understand is that I read that it takes 2-3 weeks after recieving the case number and filling out DS-261 to make a payment. Also I received my checklist in my email. So does that mean I can mail in my paperwork or do I need to send in the confirmation letter of filling out the DS-260?whoever is going through the nvc process at the moment please let me know!!

Have you called them to review DS 261? IV fee unlocks a week after they review.

Guys, I really need help on this one!

Situation: My parents in law are sponsoring me. My mother in law recently quit her job in February thus I'm having her fill out I-864a and My father in law was off work due to his heart surgery for 6 months in 2016 but is now currently employed, so he is filling out form I-864 for the joint sponsor.

The problem is that in 2016 my father in law made less then the poverty guide for the household of 3. because he was off work for six month. I have the papers proving he had a serious reason and we have all his medical papers proving he really had a surgery etc. Now, both of them file their taxes jointly and their income on the forms is added up.

Questions:

1. Does my father in law still qualify as a joint sponsor?

2. Should I add up their income on the affidavit of support forms , or do I have to provide how much the earned on the own yearly for past three years?

I'm confused... :wacko::unsure:

  • Got married - 9/26/2014

My husband is coming from El Salvador as well. Our PD is 9/27 and we haven't heard anything. I'm hoping they'll update the USCIS site around the 15th so we will have a better idea of what to do next. I'll actually be in El Salvador at then end of this week so maybe we will even find something out while we are together. It's hard to be patient, but we can do it!

Thank you..

Thats is nice to hear..that we are both of us with husbands in el salvador.

Have a nice trip...

Keep in touch

Blessings...

Read through this post:

And this one:

Just because you live with someone does not mean they must use the I-864A instead of the I-864. This is not correct. They do not need an I-864A because they live together.

The I-864 is used by a joint sponsor, whether or not they live in the same house as the primary sponsor. The I-864A is used by a qualifying household member to combine their income with that of the sponsor filling out an I-864.

NLR is correct. For the OP's situation, it seems best for one parent to be the joint sponsor, and then the other parent would fill out an I-864A. Their incomes will be combined and act together to meet the income requirement for joint sponsorship. It is the least complicated, and easiest way to properly list the individual households that reside under one roof.

As for anyone confused about household size>

Each sponsor, primary and joint, lists their own household size on their own I-864. Everyone you live with is not necessarily in your household count.

How to count household size >

Your household size includes yourself and the following individuals, no matter where they live: any spouse, any dependent children under the age of 21, any other dependents listed on your most recent Federal income tax return, all persons being sponsored in this affidavit of support, and any immigrants previously sponsored with a Form I-864 or Form I-864 EZ

I have a similar question. I was living abroad for 6.5 months with my spouse of last year and only have less than half a year of income. I also visited my husband two times within the six months that I was working for a week each time. My income for the little amount of time I worked did not meet the minimum requirement but would have if I had been working the whole year.

I had my employer write an official letter stating my annual salary which meets the minimum requirement. I asked the operator at NVC about this and he advised me to either get a joint sponsor or include a letter explaining why I only worked for less than 6 months. Does anyone have any advice? I want to make sure that I make the best choice when I send in my packet to NVC. Thanks!

Although the official letter explains 6 months of leave, there may still be questions regarding your ability to meet the requirements as a sponsor.  Have you been with the company for a long time?  Are you including the the 2 prior years of income taxes and do they reflect consistent salary above the poverty line?  If so, then you could provide explanation of why you didn't work, the employment letter, as well as recent paychecks to support the expected income for the year.

If not, best option is to get a joint sponsor with solid income above the poverty line.

Thanks so much for your response! Yes I will include all three previous tax years which reflect my income well above the poverty line. I have only been with my current company for about nine months now. Some of my pay checks are slightly skewed as I have have been visitig my husband every two months so pay is varied. I may just try to get a joint sponsor just in case to avoid any delays in processing.
