@vbjohn nice!! I'm actually the American.... my husband is the German ;)

I will do my best with your questions!

1) My husband requested his police certificate from his local courthouse - the "polizeiliches führungszeugnis" certificate is the one you want. It came via mail about a week later from the Ministry of Justice.

2) The certificate will come in German. There is no English option. You can translate it yourself, or if your German isn't strong you can ask someone else to do it. You need the translator to write a separate statement attesting to their fluency in German, sign and date it.

3) The rules state you need a police cert from each place you've lived for more than a year since you were 16. So if that is just India and Germany for you, you are ok! :) You only need 1 from Germany. ALSO... if you've ever lived in the US before (for more than 1 year) you don't need any police certificates from them.

Here is some info from US State Department website (https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html)

"All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which you are applying for a visa, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that:

  • The translation is accurate, and
  • The translator is competent to translate."

@misshepburn Thank you very much :):)

Quick question: Are any September filers still at Nebraska? Not transferred out to another service center, I mean.

My PD is Sept 12 and I haven't heard anything since. I DID hear a horror story, so I just wanted to check.

I wonder why it takes them so long to process these applications, do they run background checks on both filler and who's I-130 immigrating? like getting information from the home country and such before approving or do they do it after approval and before the interview date is set in their home country? does anyone know?

Hi guys I was looking at the USCIS processing times and it says last updated 3/14 but I think the dates remained the same... I'm so confused and desperate I literally want to throw up. Also when I logged into the USCIS website It said my case was sent to Potomac and they received it on 2/9 but on there it says last updated 2/11 I'm hoping somebody took my case that day and they are working on it... this wait is going to be the end of me!!!!
