Yes, 10-12 months is the average for your standard IR-1/CR-1 visas.  Given you don't have any RFE's or something of that nature, etc.  I have read that some have gone on even for a few months more, but about a year to a little over a year is the usual time frame from USCIS to interview stage.

Anyone else working on their I-864 / IV Packet stuff?

 

Thought i'd get input from everyone else on:

• Read somewhere that your NVC Case number and name should be written on the upper right hand corner of all documents .  Think it matters if we use Adobe PDF to type it in before printing?
• Would this take away from the validity of official documents (e.g., Tax Transcripts, employment verification, official pay stubs)
• Thoughts on stapling sections to keep them together?

@JessieABC -- VJ does recommend this, however, we did not do it. That being said, I did have the benefit of filing everything electronically, so if they lost something it would have been a little different.

 

My advice is as follows:

1. If you add the number, do it in the cleanest/neatest way possible. Adobe PDF sounds good.

2. I don't think this takes away from the validity of the documents, but I definitely would make the case number small(ish). Don't cover any seals or logos, etc. Your spouse needs to have ALL originals in their possession for the interview, in case the consulate asks for them - so having a small number doesn't take away from the validity in my mind.  

3. I wouldn't staple. Paperclips or binder clips  are better.

Maybe little removable labels on the back of each page?  Definitely getting OCD but better OCD than RFE

I called USCIS 3 times today and was able to talk to an agent. I explained to him that my PD is overdue (September 1st) and that I was transferred to Texas center. He suggested that I open a service request ... but when he submitted the request the system did not accept it. He stated that it's to soon to do a service request and that I should call back in the next 23 days!!!!

Has anyone open a service request? How good is it?

I have not looked into that. Do you think it's worthy it? I am not sure how beneficial it would be to have a congressman/senator.

While I did not personally have experience with this, other people on VJ have reported success with reaching out to their congressmen/senator. They can help get your case flagged and put pressure on the USCIS or NVC staff that you, as a citizen, cannot do alone.

 

Since its literally just a letter and a follow up phone call, I don't see why you wouldn't at least try this. The worst thing would be that they ignore you/cannot help you and you're in the same place as you are in already!! I would search VJ for other's experience with this -- and follow their example.

Good Morning Everyone. Still waiting for the case number from NVC and it's already 2 months. Frustrated enough and praying for everyone who are yet to be approved.

A question from my side which is troubling me. My wife doesn't really earn ,she's a student. My Father in law annual income is not enough to sponsor me. So in this case can i use my friend as a LONE SPONSOR for me instead of a joint sponsor along with my Father in law. Will there be questions raised from NVC that why not an immediate family member rather than a friend. Need help on this issue.
