For some reason I am drawn to this train wreck. I feel for the people there, but I fear there will be more bloodshed before anything gets better.

CARACAS, VenezuelaPresident Nicolás Maduro has intensified a crackdown on opponents ahead of Thursdays major opposition rally to demand a referendum on his rule amid a deepening economic crisis.

On Tuesday, police from the governments intelligence agency detained Carlos Melo, a leader of the Progressive Advance party, on a Caracas street, the partys spokesman said. The agency declined to confirm the detention.

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.
