Case approved, unsure about what that means

Hello everyone,

First of all, thank you so much for all your posts. My fiancé and I have been (silently) reading through them for months and they helped us so much in getting everything together for our K-1 visa application. I have a few questions that I'd really appreciate any help with.

Today we checked the case website and found that our case was approved! We weren't expecting it this early as we only sent our application out on June 28th, 2016. We received our NOA1 on July 1st. Am I wrong in thinking this is unusually fast? Not complaining, just surprised!

The message says:

On August 29, 2016, we approved your Form I-129F, Petition for Fiance(E). We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice.

Is this the NOA2 or is it the actual paper that will be mailed to us? Will we need the physical paper? The reason I ask is that on the original form I wrote down my mother's address in California (we live in Seoul, South Korea) as well as my fiancé's address in Korea. The NOA1 was sent to my mom in California and not to Seoul. If we will need the paper, I wonder if I should change the address to our address in Seoul or just have my mom send it to us here. If she just scans the paper and sends it to us, is that enough?

Once the paper arrives, what should we do? I read that we need to wait a bit before moving forward. Is that correct? Will the interview come in the next few weeks or months?

Again, thank you so much and sorry if I'm asking silly questions!

Yes, that is the I-129F approval notice. Congrats.

The I-797, approval notice, is what is known around here as the NOA2. It will be mailed to the same address you listed on the petition where the NOA1 receipt notice was mailed. It is not needed for the K-1 visa interview, BUT do not lose it. It will be needed later after you are married and filing for AOS.

Congrats on your approval!!

The scanned version will do for now, you might not even need it for the interview but like KayDeeCee said, you will need the paper version for later in the process.

Right now your paperwork is headed to the NVC. Once they get it, you will get assigned a case number, which you will need to fill out forms and get an interview date. You can call the NVC two weeks after your approval to get this number and start getting ready for the interview or simply wait; The NVC will be sending your file to the embassy and they are gonna contact you about the next steps anyway.

Congrats again, and good luck!!
