Well we called the US Embassy in Manila today to make another follow up on our cases. However, this time they told us we can NOT request a CR1 interview even if they do have our paperwork. Whats up with that? Now we are more confused than ever, again.

I would wait to see if NVC schedules your CR interview. Then when you go to your K-3 interview, tell the consul that you have a CR case file at the US embassy. I've seen a few applicants being issued CR visa instead of K-3 visa. It never hurts to try.

in the manila embassy thread in the foreign embassy forum there was recently a k-3 applicant who arrived at the embassy for her k-3 visa interview appt and she had a cr-1 interview scheduled already. she was allowed to go thru the whole k-3 interview process and at the end was told to just return on the date of her scheduled cr-1 interview date. they did not grant the k-3, but i think they told her everything was ok, but since her cr-1 was less than 1 month later to just return then and get the cr-1 visa. good luck!

If this is the same person I'm thinking of, I believe the CO told her she could not interview for the CR1 because they had not yet received the physical file.
