Hello everyone! My husband and I have been through all of the shenanigans of immigrating to the US and it is time for me to apply for citizenship! We are filling under the three year rule and my priority date is December-xx-2016! So we will be filling september-xx-2016 under the early 90 filing. I have a few questions that you now it all visa journey gurus can help me with. We are planning on sending the following items:

· N-400 Form

· Check payable to DHS in the amount of $680

· Two color photographs 2”x2”

· Photocopy of Permanent Resident Card

· U.S Citizen Spouse Birth Certificate

· Photocopy of Legal Marital Status

· IRS Tax Transcripts 2013, 2014, 215

· Photocopy of Military Dependent Card & U.S. Army LES with spouse dependent status

· U.S Army enlistment contract with spouse beneficiary status

· Joint Mortgage Statements

· Joint Vehicle Registration

· Joint Bank and Credit Card Statements ( it think i will just bring these to the interview as they are ALOT)

· Power of Attorney and Life Will

I think the list is pretty solid as we've had everything joint. We're not sending any pictures this time. I had another question in regard to the places where Ive had physical presence. I signed a lease in state XX because I was going to go to school there but I deferred due to medical reasons, however I still have the lease but I have subleased it someone else. Should I write that address in an addendum and explain that although I have that lease I am not physically residing there? I want to be honest.

We are super exited to be getting to the end of this long (and expensive) journey!

First of all congrats.. List looks good!, We have submitted as well, just waiting for the Interview. Regarding the lease, I would definitely include it. I don't think that it would hurt. I would include for me as peace of mind..

You don't need:

· Joint Mortgage Statements

· Joint Mortgage Statements
· Joint Vehicle Registration
· Joint Bank and Credit Card Statements ( it think i will just bring these to the interview as they are ALOT)
· Power of Attorney and Life Will

If you're applying under the 3 year rule and you have tax returns, then that's all you need for proof. See the checklist: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/article/attachments.pdf (item 4 - a OR b OR c)

Take those items to the interview.

I figured, but I just rather send stuff up front to not have the risk of a RFE.

I have a question, I see a lot of people mentioning walking in "early" for their biometric appointments. How do you do that?

Some offices where biometrics are taken don't mind you come by before your scheduled appointment. Some people do that - they pop in at a more convenient time than their appointment letter said, and do their fingerprints then (a few days before, say). It doesn't make much of a difference, really, but might be easier than rescheduling an appointment for a later date, if you didn't think you'd be able to keep the actual appointment.

And, as for how... you just go in to your application support center (the office listed on your biometric appointment letter) and ask. Make sure to take the letter with you, because they'll scan it, plus your ID and anything else the letter requests.

Ok, I need to ask about this. I have been reading the posts here and all of them (including a person I know irl) tell me I have to send EVERYTHING I send with ROC + new stuff. I, personally, am a fan of following the instructions to the letter. The letter says "OR", so I only sent enough to satisfy that. I don't care if they RFE me for additional stuff or ask to see it at the interview. I'm in no hurry, and I have no concerns about eventually being approved.

I don't think they will RFE me though, because I followed the instructions precisely (I added the checklist to my package and ticked off exactly what I included to make it super crystal clear to them what I'd done).

At the end of the day, though - it's up to you.

There are no RFEs prior to the interview. For N400s, your application is either initially accepted or it is returned to you. RFEs come after the interview.

So just send what they ask for, and take the extra evidence to the interview.

In many cases (personally, I think most cases), they don't even look at your file before you walk into the room for your interview.

If you haven't provided what they need at that point, that's when you might get an RFE (either on the spot or after the interview by mail).

Speaking for myself, I would take copies (originals where necessary) of everything sent with the applications and all supporting documents.

If you send everything with the application and they misplace one page they need, you can end up with a delayed application. So since you'll need to take everything to the interview anyway, there's no point in sending in anything more than what the checklist asks for.

Do any of you know if it is okay to mix printed info with hand written? For some reason the form won't let me type certain things on certain boxes (online or downloaded form)... So frustrating!

Yes. Pretty common, actually, because they do a crappy job on those forms. :)

Oh guys, after giving it some though, here is my updated document list. Solid? I am planning on taking joint vehicle registration, mortgage statements, deed of trust, power of attorney & life will's, military records, etc to the interview instead of sending them in.

N-400

Military Spouse Filing

· G-1145 Form

· N-400 Form

· Check payable to DHS in the amount of $680

· Two color photographs 2”x2”

· Photocopy of Permanent Resident Card

· U.S Citizen Spouse Birth Certificate

· Photocopy of Legal Marital Status

· IRS Tax Transcripts 2013, 2014, 215

· Photocopy of Military Dependent Card (because I am sending paperwork to military processing service center)

What do you think?
