Huzzah, Hooray! we got our case approved, so we're one step closer to a hopeful K1 visa approval!

My question now is in regards to when we'll receive our hard copy of said approval, and if we can call the NVC from date of said approval? or if we have to wait until 2 week after receiving hard copy NOA2.

Any advice is appreciated!

Many thanks

Chantal

A lot of the instructions for post-approval are both out of date and overwhelming. It's very confusing.

The NOA2 is very import, so don't lose it. I would make many copies (and PDF scans of it), because you'll need them down the road.

The NOA2 contains an alien registration number. It's in the 'Beneficiary' box, above the Beneficiary name, and it begins with an 'A'. The NOA1 contains the receipt number and the receipt date (which becomes the priority date for the petition). Keep a file with all of your codes, numbers ands dates. The NOA2 approval date is important: you'll have 4 months from this date to complete the interview.

You should receive another letter from the NVC within 30 days that contains the case number. Once you have the case number you can prepare to schedule the interview. You'll also get an email from the NVC. Print this email (and also save to PDF for record keeping). If you don't get the letter within 4 weeks, call the NVC.

In the meantime, you should start preparing everything you'll need to bring to the interview such as copies of birth certificate, police clearance, passport-size photos, relation ship evidence, etc. As an example, here's the checklist for Manila: http://bit.ly/2bQHnMy. Search for "packet 3" and the consulate to find the exact list you need to use.

You should be able to pay for the interview once you get the case number. You'll probably go to a bank (bring your passport a printed deposit slip generated from their website) and make the payment; then receive a receipt slip with an MRV number on it. You'll enter the MRV number when you schedule the interview to use as credit to apply the payment. You'll also need the receipt as part of interview documentation.

You can schedule the interview once you've paid. You don't need to do anything else to schedule other than pay. You'll get a confirmation page after you schedule. Print this page (and save a PDF version too).

You can go get the medical anytime after you pay. A week or two before the interview is a good idea. The medical is only good for 6 months, so keep that in mind: you don't want to have an interview with a 6 month old medical.

The DS-160 online application needs to be completed and submitted before attending the interview. Print the confirmation page (and save to PDF for records) and bring it to the interview. It's easy to go the site that hosts the DS-160 and experiment to see what info is needed to complete the form. There are also samples on VJ. But it's really good to use the site to get an idea of how the site works. It doesn't resemble the samples at all. The samples are just the printed confirmation pages. You won't need to create an account to enter the DS-160. At the very beginning of the form, you'll get an application number. You'll need this application number to access your application at a later time, if you don't initially submit it. After 30 days, the application will expire. You can save the application to a .DAT file, and then import the information at any time in the future (if the application happens to expire). Once you successfully submit the application, remember to print the confirmation page. You can return later if needed to re-access the confirmation pages too. The application must be submitted from an IP Address within the beneficiary's country.

I think a lot of the above instructions are are for Phillipines.

If you haven't already, you can read the London instructions and get ready for when your case arrives in London.

Read the links 1-7 here https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/

The link Applying for the Visa is the explanation of the paperwork part.

Go to GP and get shots.

Order police certificate.

In many cases you need your case number provided by the NVC to book your medical. In Sweden you don't, as long as you have the case number on the day of the medical. Basically, it's country specific, so you should look for the British thread.

You get your case number by calling NVC (it might take 30 days, sometimes even longer, for NVC to receieve your case from the date you got your online approval).

The NOA2 hard copy is not needed for anything until you marry and send a photocopy of it with your adjustment of status application packet. Not sure what you mean about "go to my doctors for that".
