Hi guys, when you submit the tax return, do you submit the form 1040 for can you just download tax return transcript online like in the picture below?

I am asked to submit tax return for RFE so i just want to make sure.

IRS_tax_transcript.jpg

You can submit the Tax Return Transcript instead of a copy of the actual tax return documents; this, IMO, is more "official" and carries more weight. The download copy is just the same as if you had requested one via mail.

Timeline

I have been browsing this forum for information and thought I would contribute with my info.

I used the NOLO book of Fiance and Marriage visa (pretty solid). Bear in mind - you do not need a graduate degree to fill these forms in - they are designed for ordinary people to do (but use a lawyer if your case is complex - the NOLO book will assist you on that). I did all the filing myself (with my beloved)

I entered the US by land with a K1 on June 15 in Montanna (Sweetgrass) - Married in Aug, (K1 visa info below)

September 9th Filed I-485 / WP / Petition / AP etc (processed at 'MSC' centre USCIS local office Omaha)

Oct 4th Bio appointment , 25 days

Nov 4th WP/AP approved, 55 days

Nov 17 WP / AP card received, 68 days

Nov 25th LPR (I-485) approved (no interview) 76 days

Dec 1st Card mailed - 82 days

Card scheduled Dec 5th (Dutch St Nicholas feast - a good present)

Points to note:

* I have been interviewed in Vancouver Canada as part of the K1 process so I thought there would be a chance that the interview would be waived (it was)

* I searched what happens after I-485 approved and there are posts about the passport stamp. I assume that this could happen but I also read that the stamp was being phased out around 2012 although one would still be legitimate (I guess) . The status did not change to 'card print request sent to printer '- just straight to mailed out a week later.

As a K1 - I could bring all my personal possessions in without a customs broker (including vehicle import - you will need a compliance letter, I did all the paperwork myself) as well as ATF forms (immigrant exemption.) - just fill in all the forms (carefully).

My K1 process was similarly smooth

Filed Oct 15 2015 at NE office in California

Nov 16 2015 - application processed - letter sent asking for beneficiary statement of intent to marry (not listed on the forms)

Nov 23 - letter received and beneficiary letter sent

Dec 3 - I-129f approved

Early Jan - Canadian K processing dept in Vancouver picked it up - requested evidence of citizenship (not on document list) emailed it in

Scheduled interview (Feb 23) online - beware, the online registration process is not simple quick or trivial..... for instance, it requests the date of EVERY entry you have EVER made into the US - I had many many dates (maybe 80-100) over 30 years to add (I have been a F1, E2, B1, B2 etc) but I did not have to enter the dates again during the process

Mid Feb: Medical

Feb 23 - Interview - approved (Canadians - it has to be in Vancouver)

March 1st ish - K1 visa package received

June 15 - Entered US by land at Sweetgrass MT

Mid Aug - married

Sept 9 filed AOS forms (now see above)

Hope this helps - i will answer questions that are posted to the best of my ability

I just had the chance to read the approval notice for my green card and it says that I am a Permanent resident and will be given 10 year gc. I am now going to call them because I know that this will cause trouble when it comes to some other processing I have to do.

I hope the green card I will receive tomorrow says 2 years instead of 10.

Still waiting for something - anything - to change on the i-485 front. I'm glad I am working and everything is going great, so it's not like I'm desperate for that card to come, but it'd be nice to not be in limbo, stuck on fingerprint fee received with absolutely no idea when the next step will be!

I noticed that the processing times estimates here on this website for work permits keep stagnating and sometimes even going backward. It is frustrating, but at least it means that those of us who are still waiting for the EAD's are not alone...

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Nightmare to get the 10 instead of the 2. Takes about 6-8 months to get the right one after that.

Yes! I've read horror stories about getting that corrected and replaced... it's taken some up to a year to get the new one.

I would suggest to wait and confirm if it's the 2 yr or 10 yr card. If it's the 10 yr card, I would probably make full color copies, back and front, and make an infopass appointment because once you send/turn it in you have nothing - this way at the infopass appointment you might be able to get the stamp in your passport.
