Timeline

Our attorney has been mentally preparing me and my spouse to anticipate getting separated almost immediately at the interview, because of the fact that we only dated 3 months prior to getting married, and also since we have only been married for 3 months.

We don't have anything to hide obviously, but do you guys think this sounds accurate?

Do you mean that they will say your marriage is a fraud? I hope not, because my husband and I only dated 3 1/2 months and have been married only 2 1/2 months - not too much difference from you. Our lawyers at RapidVisa didn't seem to think it was a problem. They just wanted us to document the relationship very well.

That sounds about right. I think our attorney just wants us to be well prepared for the interview. We had a mock interview with our attorney recently and it surprised me how differently sometimes the husband and wife recollect the same exact historical events haha!

what support documents do you need for i-864?

Is w-2 form different from federal tax return?

also, does a transcript from IRS do in this case?

The instructions PDF should list the supporting evidence with more details but to summarize, the easiest would be:

1. IRS tax transcripts OR copy of the entire tax return including schedules and attachments such as Form W-2, Form 1099, etc. (Usually, most just use the transcript since it's easier and carries more weight.)

2. Employer Letter verifying employment

3. Paystubs

Good luck!
