We are in NM. My husband was able to get a license here because he has a valid SS number from his student visa and OPT days and as long as you have that, they don't ask about immigration status/paperwork. So he has his license, but we only have one car and I have to take it to work so it doesn't help much for transportation. I also just lost my child care subsidy because he doesn't have/can't have a job yet and because he is an immigrant without a green card for 5 years/citizen. I have to take our daughter out of daycare. I hope we can find a different one we can afford later. We are at about 150% of the federal poverty level right now. It is hard to find a daycare anywhere close to our range that is at least an ok one and my husband works online for right now and he needs to work too. We lost our food stamps (my daughter and I) when we got married too. We almost lost Medicaid too but it was saved at the last minute. The whole system is a mess.

Just got notified that we will have our AOS interview on February 1st, in Detroit. Was hoping for no interview, but at least we'll have sooner rather than later.

So I just checked my case and saw that it was updated today. I almost screamed out but when I opened the file it just said my name was updated for EAD lol. Ugh. No worries, the apporval is coming soon.

LOL oh goodness! But you're right, approval is coming soon! It seems as if USCIS is picking up speed, so that's a plus!

Haha I wish. Still waiting for my biometrics appointment after 31 days now

Me too still waiting for the biometrics appointment letter. Send the package on Sept. 20th and on the status case received Sept. 28 for the AP and EAD for the green card Oct.5th receive finger print fee. Hopefully we get the letter soon.

He tutors people from other countries in Swahili over the Internet. His students live in places like Japan, Germany, etc. He also does translation work for an app developer based outside of the US. He just gets paid through PayPal. He doesn't make much, but it helps him pay on some debts he has from before our marriage.

Okay, got ya. I just thought that was not allowed... because to which country do you pay tax over that income? That's why I didn't look for anything because I thought it would be a problem.

Yep, even the K-1 visa goes up by $200 and a lot others too. So I'm also quite pleased we got it done before that date.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that it'll all go quick and smooth for him!
