can we all move on and just focus on the process that we are all going through?

While waiting for my AED, AP and interview schedule, I am planning on taking up some classes on the local Continuing Education Centers. I just called them to clarify if I am eligible given my status amd waiting on their consellor to call or email me. Anyone else have tried taking up some classes while waiting? Please share your experience.

? Happy Halloween! Have a party this weekend and trick or threat on Monday. I am so bored of this process so I need to enjoy what we have on hand..

Totally agree!

We're actually going next week to ask about taking up some classes, my wife is bored too hahaha

No, we were unsuccessful as well because of the difference between the I-797C and the I-797 notice. The one DMV accepts is the I-797 approval notice.

She has her DL from Mexico but we'd rather wait for her EAD to get her CA DL before she drives around.

In Georgia I could only drive the first 30 days on my home country DL. MISS Driving so really can't wait!!

@ MARIA - yeah that's true DMV only accepts the Notice of approval for AOS. That's why I am also waiting for my AED at least.

I am driving around since I got here. Well DMV states that we can drive as long as our DL from our home country remains valid.. Although the risk is on me. I only drive around on the inner roads, I don't want to drive in the freeways until I have my CA DL.

There was one case here from SD that already have their AED/ AP approved. So I am really hoping to get our approval soon. I already have some work prospect referrals and I need my AED :(

@ GEORGIA- that sucks! Here in CA we can drive as long as our foreign DL is valid. Well, we are all getting closer for AED.

Cristina I applied for university with my approval notices. I think you should be fine. Good luck.

Is anyone planning to travel on AP?

Approval notices of AOS/ AED and AP? I don't have those yet.

Wish that was here! My boy has soccer 6 times a week and it's really getting to us that I can't take him. 4 days a week I have to drive we other people (Really nice of them to take us with them) but it's just easier to go by ourselves and also the whole grocery shopping and so on! ...

I'm hoping to get my DL in beginning of December.

Yeah, the adjustments that we need to do.. Well, we are getting very close now.. I am hoping to get a job before the end of the year.

Do you know if we also need to go through with exams and actual driving tests even if we have a valid foreign drover's license?

Some countries don't and it also depends on the State.

I have to do vision, written and the driving test.

I'm from Switzerland and I had to. I was laughing so hard, since it takes you like 6 months to get a driving license over there, and we actually know how to drive lol

With that said, I did the written test and the driving test on the same day and I was good to go. I think it was like 60 bucks lol.

We are in NM. My husband was able to get a license here because he has a valid SS number from his student visa and OPT days and as long as you have that, they don't ask about immigration status/paperwork. So he has his license, but we only have one car and I have to take it to work so it doesn't help much for transportation. I also just lost my child care subsidy because he doesn't have/can't have a job yet and because he is an immigrant without a green card for 5 years/citizen. I have to take our daughter out of daycare. I hope we can find a different one we can afford later. We are at about 150% of the federal poverty level right now. It is hard to find a daycare anywhere close to our range that is at least an ok one and my husband works online for right now and he needs to work too. We lost our food stamps (my daughter and I) when we got married too. We almost lost Medicaid too but it was saved at the last minute. The whole system is a mess.

Same here. Got my license back in the days when I was studying here. Did the OPT year as well. So I only went back home for around 7 months and came back on the fiancé visa ??
