So the case has been complete hell for us.

We got notification that there was an approval as I stated before.. I knew it was too good to be true. Called USCIS. The girl thought my husband was about to be deported for some reason.. then transferred me to an immigration officer. She felt it was odd he hadn't completed biometrics yet (I agreed). Officer wasn't much help just told us to wait. Today I check the mail and we get a beautiful RFIE. It states I don't make enough, filled something out wrong, etc. So now we feel completely hopeless. I guess I'm going to have a friend co sponsor at this point but I don't even know how to add someone as a co-sponsor... Do I just send over their information with the RFE letter? I also scheduled an infopass appointment because this is a mess.

That was really weird. I hope they figure it out with your husbands residency.

Your sponsor fill out the I-864 with all the supporting documents, you can read on the instructions for the I-864 what a sponsor needs.

Don't stress over this right now.

First off, and if you'd like us to help that is... would you mind sharing your details. It may just be something was wrong or missing on the I-864 form and the generic one-all response would be you don't make enough because they can't verify off of what you sent in.

So, with that said, are you positive you are over the poverty guidelines for your household size?

When I calculated it before I think I was making around $26,000 at the time I was filling out the forms. But ever since (around beginning of October) I've been working far less hours because I have been focusing on school and my husbands parents helped us financially. I sent bank statements, pay stubs, everything. All previous IRS tax returns (which I didn't make a lot at all because I was a student).

I know I filled out one page incorrectly, I stated "1" in household size instead of "2" I guess? :\ But then they're saying my calculations were wrong and that I didn't include the proper tax return information and forms. I included IRS transcripts from last years and the taxpayer's copy forms of W2 forms for three previous years. Which like I said, I made little to nothing. So I think a co-sponsor should be used just to avoid arguing with them about this stuff and making the process go longer.

If you make $26,000 then you are well over what is needed for 2 people though.

hi yall,

i received the hardcopys for the Approvals for my EAD and AP in the mail today also i received a Letter stating Notice to the applicant. " Form I-693 was not submitted " , Submit Form I-693 on a later date as at the interview or if the interview is waived you will receive a RFE for that form. now i just gotta wait for my ead to get to me and see if/when our interview will be...am exited but still stressed

My husband thinks it's because they looked at my taxes from last year where I only made $17,000 and just went off of that. I included pay stubs from my new job but I don't think they felt like calculating them all . Because my hourly pay was $9-10 but I was literally working 60-90 hours depending on the week just to make it to the $26,000. :\

They will go by current income but will also look at prior years as well.

Are you part-time or full-time? Full time just use what your annual salary is. If you are part-time with I assume a normal, expected work hour range... usually 30hrs a week? Don't use what you've earned so far, use the calculated "annual" based on your part-time figures.

Did you include an employer letter verifying your employment position and income?

Other option is to just go ahead and use a joint sponsor - just make sure you are including everything and filling it out correctly with accurate income figures, etc. Send the IRS tax transcript as that is viewed as more "official" rather than a copy of the tax return.

Did you provide employment letter? Otherwise send it all in again with a letter explaining your job salary and hours you work calculate it all together so it's really easy for them to see that you made enough. Also 6 months of pay stubs

As for my previous situation, I worked two part time jobs at the time - I still do but with a different employer now. I left one of the jobs and went to another one. If you have the IRS transcripts you don't need any of the tax forms, such as the 1040. Make sure it's the "Tax Return Transcript" and not the other types. Don't forget the last 6 month's paystubs for the joint sponsor as well.

Yes I got it. Thank you so much! The only thing I forgot for the joint sponsor was the proof of American citizenship. I'm having them text me a copy of their passport. That'll be enough right? I don't think they have their Birth Certificate on them.

Last night I got 6 texts from USCIS (bit OTT ha!) informing me both EAD and AP were approved (but I already knew about EAD..) and now both say 'approved' when previously EAD was saying 'card in production'... hoping the card comes in the mail very soon!
