that is correct but until i do have a record number and uscis officially got and accepted my paperwork i am not legally in this country if my other visa expires before that

You will be fine. There are people who wait years before even starting to file AOS. While you are technically in a sort of limbo status, no one is going to be looking for you. DO NOT LEAVE. You will have to refile for a CR-1/IR-1 visa.

I am not familiar with the VISA you have. But let me just share mine, I been in this country since I was 4 years old with an overstayed tourist visa. It's been really hard since I don't even know what my country is like. I applied for DACA, an executive action that allows certain undocumented immigrants to the United States who entered the country before their 16th birthday. My DACA expired last month because they took forever to process it and i filed it last June. It's been almost 4 months and i never heard a thing about my DACA application. I filed for my AOS on 9/13 and I already have my biometrics appointment... yayy! Just piece of advice don't leave the country unless thats what your lawyer said lol, they will not touch you or just come after you because your visa expired. It doesn't work that way unless you did something wrong. Even the package got lost somewhere send another AOS application, you came this far and you will leave this country, it will be a waste, trust me its quick and its worth the try.

I received an RFE from I-485 application. I guess it is because I didn't read the instructions of the I-864, and I'm missing the copy of the naturalization certificate and the copy of the last 3 tax returns, paystubs, W2s and job letter.

I'll let you know when I receive the hard copy.

Congrats on the EAD card, the other petitions you filed will now be transferred to your local USCIS office for adjudication. Nothing to do now, but just wait, patiently.

Actually a lot of people that uses attorneys get RFE's. A lot of them don't do their work good enough and are a waste of money if it's not a complicated case.

Make sure you let your attorney know so that they can be prepared to respond quickly. I would suggest reviewing your copy of the packet but not sure if your attorney gave you a copy or not, or have the attorney do a review of it.

Patience... an RFE, if responded to quickly, won't delay you as much.
