It seems like this process goes by faster than the k1 visa process.

What are the steps after the biometrics appointment usually? :o Does the interview usually come by closely afterwards?

Depends. As you're adjusting from a k1, you have chances of not getting and interview at all, they can send the green card and skip the interview. After biometrics all you do is a lot of waiting - for the combo card, for an interview or for the green card itself. I was done within 4 months and had an interview. Some people were done within 3 without one. It's unpredictable though, you'll have to wait and see

3-4 months isn't too bad! At first I was worried it would take around a year but then I noticed a lot of people getting approved far before that.

Do you by any chance know what determines an interview or not?

Congrats on your approval btw! :)

It will be sheer luck. There's no rhyme or reason. That are still people waiting from previous months, so it can take a while, but I guess within 6 months is a good bet.

Just to add about how long AOS takes, a lot of it also depends on where you live.

Because significant portions of the process are handled by the local USCIS offices and not just the same main service center, different locations have different wait times.

Some local offices (like my Milwaukee, WI :( apparently) are backlogged processing significantly slower than others.

This page has sort of a general idea of averages for the different centers. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aosstats.php

Unfortunately though many of the centers have a very limited number of cases that are taken into account which I am sure doesn't speak well to the accuracy of the data...

And if you're adjusting from a K1 there is no telling if your file will stay at NBC, go yo your local office or be sent to another regional office for processing.

I live in North Carolina, local office is Charlotte, my AOS was sent to an office in Texas where it was processed ( I only know because I had a RFE)

I was approved without interview but there is no update to your status to let you know where your file actually is

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

Wow. I always assumed it would be sent to the local office. And there's no way to find out where your case goes unless you get some sort of update like an RFE? D: It doesn't say anything in the NOA?
