well that's a good thing! ...

it is? i'm mostly expecting an interview but no interview and straight approval sounds good. at this point i just want something to indicate that things are moving. this is my 2nd AOS application because my 1st one got screwed over by a bad ex-lawyer. so i just want it to be done soon, hopefully :)

Oh my lawyer said that typically the post K1 process tends to be faster and most of them dont need interviews. I didnt need the K1 visa, since I am already on H1B, so it didnt apply to us.

Well lawyers are often wrong.

Yes you will need an interview but if you had live a place without wait you would have been done a while ago so it really just can't be compared.

That can't be said it really depends on a lot of things.

If people have an interview or not and if yes then how long the wait is at the local office. Some have a month wait and others have a year wait.

It definitely does depend on the local field office, Denver is looking like one of the slower ones (processing April 27, 2016), but from seeing timelines on this site, it seems that AOS from K-1 takes less time (I do realize this could be entirely coincidental). Considering we are adjusting from a B2 and are required to have an interview, that might take longer compared to K-1s which can be and ofter are approved without an interview, such as in your case. Regardless, I am just hoping we get an interview before 1 year from filing - today it has been exactly 6 months. The not knowing is what is killing me.

It is coincidental. I think there are more adjusting from K-1 then from other visas in here.

But I know what you are saying I thought it was hard too in the end of waiting for ours to be approved. But go back to people who filed in the spring at the same office that way you have an idea who far they have come.

If it is coincidental, then that's good news for me. Denver also makes no sense to me, when I filter the timelines to only include AOS cases from Denver, in Feb 2017, cases from Feb/March 2016 were approved as well as cases from July/August 2016 - that seems so bizarre.

And additionally, all the cases approved from Feb/March 2016 for Denver were categorized as adjusting from "other" visas, and the ones approved from July/August were all K-1s... suspicious.

Everything in here is based on the info the members enter a lot is entering wrong and a lot is not finishing their timelines even after they are done with the process so you have to take that with a grain of salt.
