Hi guys,

Just a Q.

I just received the letter for our interview, July 28 at 1pm. It states what I need to bring but most of them were submitted when I filed it. Ofc, I have more stuff  to add to show our marriage is bona fide like our son's birth certificate etc. The list has those tiny boxes, do they check it off if they need something specific from me? Also, my medical expires on September, do I need to provide a new one?

Thank you,

When did you SUBMIT the med exam to USCIS?

Hi all,

it's been a while since I last posted. I submitted my documents last September and my interview is in two weeks. Most of the documents are in order, my husband and I used a joint sponsor and and we already submitted all that info. I was wondering if we would still need to bring updated copies of the sponsor's pay slips as well?

please help, thanks.

Good news. We got the email saying the card was ordered for production. We were expecting a RFE because of the medical (I-693) update on the gonorrhea test.

The officer said they were going to check but It looks like I-693 was updated.

Woohoo...

Good look to everyone....

We are nyc filers.  Our interview was last Friday morning.  It would seem that everything went fine during the questioning and evidence section of the interview.

Our case officer told stories and rambled on about her life at length.  She didn't ask us very much - all the questions were about basic biographical info.  She looked over a couple of the hundreds of pictures I brought.

We were nearing what felt like the end, she handed us a letter, told us we were done and casually said oh by the way your medical is incomplete and expired.

This came as a shock.  No rfe no indication prior to our interview that there were any issues.  Then boom oh yeah you need a whole new medical.

I was so surprised and in the mindset that we were done (having already collected our things and stood up) that I didn't ask or say much at the time.  I really wish I had because none of it makes sense.

But in any case on that Friday we left the office ready to redo our medical again and  we were told we could bring the results directly into the NY office once we had them.

My husband and I went back to the very same place we had gone originally on the same day as our interview.  He had his shots and blood drawn, we were told results could be picked up on Monday.

Monday 9am my husband got the results, everything checks out, and delivered them to the case officer directly (he somehow convinced the person at the check in desk that he had to deliver the medical packet to her hands and they complied).

Little has it done to help us though.  No change whatsoever to our case.  The online status still says interview scheduled.

I'm pretty unhappy too.  She said all we need was the medical and we would be approved - but that isn't how it's happened.  This is also the 3rd time we've paid for a medical exam.  The first time was in Egypt.  The second time was when we filed for our AOS after having waited 6 months in Administrative Processing out of the Egyptian Embassy.

Then again for this third medical after waiting for these 10 months for an interview to be scheduled.

I should add my husband has zero medical issues.  None.

But we are here waiting yet again with no idea how long this step will take.

I hope everyone with upcoming interviews has a much smoother time.

Sorry to hear about this :( Sounds very frustrating! Ours is coming up on 8/15 in NYC so we are hoping for a smoother process, but sadly there seems to be no way to predict these complications! Did you get an explanation as to what was incomplete and why it was expired? According to USCIS website it says the medical is good for one year from submission: "Starting June 1, 2014, USCIS will limit the validity period for all Forms I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, to one year from the date of submission to USCIS. Applicants must also submit Form I-693 to USCIS within one year of the immigration medical examination." https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/uscis-issues-new-policy-form-i-693-report-medical-examination-and-vaccination-record  .....was this true in your case? I'm hoping you get good news soon!

I didn't ask questions of the case officer and now I regret that immensely.  I just took her at her word.

She said once we had the new medical we'd be approved.  Obviously that's not true as nothing has happened since we turned in the new medical.

As to expiration, we had a medical done in Egypt to get the K1 visa, that was in February of 2016.  We had another medical done in the states in September 2016 - THAT was the one we turned in for our AOS case.

All I can figure is that our AOS medical from Sept. was missing or separated from our other case documents?  I don't know. When we went back to the same doctor for the redo they told us very clearly that we were well within the valid time period.

They gave us our old records too and told us we could just take that.  But I was too nervous about waiting and not having the correct things, so we paid for a new one and brought that over in the sealed envelope.

The thing that's the most upsetting to me is we had no idea beforehand.  The case officer also made it seem like it was no big deal and we'd be approved on delivery of the new medical.  Instead it's just nothing - the endless wait.  Again.
