WWE Hall of Famer Mr. Fuji, real name Harry Fujiwara, died Sunday morning at the age of 82, WWE announced. Cause and place of death have not been revealed.

Fujiwara began his career as Mr. Fuji and continued wrestling and managing for over 30 years. He was a five-time WWE tag team champion and became a manager after his in-ring career ended, leading the likes of Demolition, The Powers of Pain, Don Muraco and Yokozuna to the ring.

Fuji was heavily involved in the finish of WrestleMania IX, throwing salt in the eyes of world champion Bret Hart, allowing Yokozuna to pin Hart and become the new champion.

Rest in peace. Man I'm getting old...

I hear ya Marv. Used to watch the original WWWF on the local UHF Channel 56 Boston on Saturday mornings. Lots of big names that we grew up with have gone to the ring in the sky. Did you know that Vince McMahon used to mail VHS cassettes to the local stations all over the country so they could broadcast them every week? That's how the WWWF first got it's nationwide and worldwide recognition.

I didn't know that. That's the meaning of hustle.

Yes it is. Vince Mcmahon Sr started the WWWF but it was Vince Jr that took it to the next level and made it what it is. Not sure if it's just me playing the grumpy old man, but I think the wrestling we had as kids was much better as a show overall than what's out there today. At least the story lines were much better imo.

Man, everything was better back then because standards were a lot higher. TV shows, music, movies. All of it demanded folks did their best to entertain people.

My playlists are 80's early 90's. I refuse to watch reality tv shows, and I'm going back and re-watching movies like The Goonies and Bachelor Party with Tom Hanks.

The "attitude era" of the late 90's was the best IMO. They had serious competition from WCW and that made for some great TV, but once Vince was able to buy them it was over.

I agree that when the WCW was around and competing head to head with the WWE wrestling was at it's peak overall. I still love the old days of the WWWF with guys like Chief Jay Strongbow, George The Animal Steel, Haystacks Calhoun, Bobo Brazil, Mr. Fuji, Black Jack Mulligan, Big Cat Ernie Ladd and Gorilla Monsoon.
