My fiance, from New Zealand recently got approved on his Visa (Happy dances were happening that day, I can tell you.) But now we move onto the next stage, his interview. I know the window is 2-4 weeks before he'll know, which is fine. But neither of us has any idea what to expect about the interview process.

Has anyone been through it and can offer insight as to what he might want to expect? We appreciate any information!

Thank you.

I found my own experiences at Auckland consulate to be relatively stress free and quick.

There are a number of reviews where different members offer up information on their own experiences at this embassy.

You can read it here:

Generally the interviewer will just ask very general questions to your fiance about his relationship with you, such as what do you do for work, when did you both meet, how did you meet. I wouldn't worry about it at all and just go in and answer everything truthfully.

Goodluck to you both! Everything will be wonderful and fine! :)

While I haven't been through this interview yet (I just hit 6 weeks at NVC today so hopefully soon) I have been to the interview windows at the embassy. I had to do so when my daughter was born to get her US citizenship.  I can tell you its not a scary place.  You go up the elevator and come to a deserted looking entrance with a scanner to walk through and a security guy.  That part was the most uncomfortable part of it all. They check your belongings and you take in only your paperwork and required items.
In our case we went to the window to a lovely older lady and handed in documents, were handed back some of them and told to go to the next window to pay some fees (unsure if this is the case for IR1 or CR1 applications), then told to take a seat and wait. A lovely american gentleman called us up, asked some questions, cracked a joke or two, pulled faces to my baby girl, and then looked through paperwork. All up that interview took 5 mins, It doesn't sound too dissimilar to what the greencard interviews will be like (perhaps minus the pulling faces haha).
I didn't find any of the staff there to be unpleasant or scary at all. I think for this reason I won't be so nervous at my interview, as its a little familiar to me.  I don't think you should be worried at all.
